Starfish Dog Rescue

Can’t recommend this rescue more highly, they are very responsible and put the well-being of their animals at the core of their work. I got my beautiful Lily from them and they did a proper assessment of my suitability for Lily and also of her suitability for us as a family. Dog rescue as it should be done!

The team always go above and beyond for any animal in their care and put a pets rehoming needs first and foremost they home check every time to ensure any human applicant can provide a dog’s requirements inside and outside any property to safeguard the long term future for the those than have found themselves in need of rehoming, it’s always a shame when application details don’t match reality and waste the valuable time and resources of all concerned.We have had a number of dogs and cats off Gilly over the years and the matching process has always been very important to guarantee longevity of care for all as far as possible. Starfish is sometimes the only chance an animal will get to go on and live a perfect life as possible. I don’t write reviews or post online but when people are doing their very best at their own cost they deserve to be appreciated roll on Starfish team!

What a fantastic charity where Gill and the volunteers work so hard to ensure that the doggies in their care are matched with the perfect new owners they have had a huge number of dogs (plus cats) over the years especially during and since lockdown and without them I dread to think where these precious animals might end up. We are coming upto 2 years of gotcha with our Bertie and can’t think Starfish enough ❤️ x

I can’t think of a better place for a dog who needs help and that life and support. I was supported and understood on the hand over of my dogs and they could see I was upset under the circumstances and was comforted with reassurance. I have been updated since on how the dogs are and hope for more up dates. Thank you Gillian you have made this decision much easier.

Felt extremely judge from said company owner. They way I was spoken to and looked at was extremely judgemental. I couple people I know that have had to give up there dog for personal issues also said the same they felt extremely judge by said owner and very down graded. Great with the animals hence the star but the way they spoke and looked at me and my friends was very judgemental and down grading.

Having to let a dog go is an awful situation but Starfish Dog Rescue helped us through a very difficult choice and where supportive and understanding. We know the dog will go to the right home and we are thankful for the love and support of Starfish Dog Rescue.

Although, obviously, not a professional or profit making organisation, the care and proficiency of Gilly and the foster we dealt with was outstanding. There was much detailed form filling and several long phone discussions to ensure that we were right for the dog and that the dog was right for us, followed by the obligatory home check. Throughout the process the Starfish staff remained courteous and helpful, regardless of our persistent requests for progress updates. We can't thank Starfish enough for the tireless work they do on behalf of both the dogs in their care and the prospective adopters.

Such a great charity. They are very thorough and careful when rehoming rescues, to ensure the new home is the right fit for the dog. They put in so much time, care and love to help the unfortunate dogs that get passed on to them. Gillian is fab, and I would 100% recommend getting in touch if you or someone else's circumstances have changed and there is a dog in need of rehoming, or you are on a hunt for your own fur angel to take home.

We adopted our beautiful spanish puppy from Starfish 8 years ago! I've followed this rescue ever since and they work so hard caring for and finding loving homes for the dogs. They are an incredible rescue who have devoted their lives to saving and rehoming. They are very careful in finding the perfect home and will really get to know the dogs first to be able to know exactly what they need to settle and thrive. I love following the dogs stories as they move on from rescue to loving homes.
