ARKA Original Funerals

We had a really exceptionally positive experience with Arka. The family was naturally a bit overwhelmed and for me and my sister it was our first time having to organise a funeral - we were worried it would all be very stiff and awkward and we would get pushed to make decisions - but Sarah and Cara guided us through every moment gently and patiently, giving us space or time or advice or whatever we needed. The funeral itself took place during the height of the Corona lockdown and they also dealt with this very professionally, somehow preserving the intimacy of the occasion while strictly observing all the hygiene protocols. I think it is this balance of professionalism with warmth and humanity that sets Arka apart. While I hope we don't need their services again for a long time, I would recommend them to anyone who does.

I cannot thank and recommend all at ARKA enough. At a difficult time and under extraordinary circumstances for everyone at the moment, they were helpful, warm, patient and always understanding. I went along to view my partner’s body and the experience was made gentle, quiet and meaningful in setting and approach. The service itself was conducted beautifully and, despite restrictions because of the pandemic, it was a treasured day and felt like proper celebration and send off.Ultimately, I really could not have asked for more but I’m certain that if I had no request would have been too much.I remain hugely grateful to everyone at ARKA.Thank you so much.

My family had really exceptional service from the ladies of Arka, I personally cannot thank them enough.This was my first experience in organising a funeral and as I am not from the area I was totally clueless as to who to approach and who would be best to deal with this totally overwhelming situation, however, I need not have worried as Sarah and the ladies gently and sympathetically held my hand and guided me through each stage of the process.At a very distressing time they ensured all my families wishes for our final farewell were met. No request was too much and everything was done with such dignity and good grace, they were kind, gentle, efficient and extremely professional. They took care of and coordinated all the details allowing us to mourn the loss of our family loved one.I don’t know how, but they manage to balance professionalism with warmth and compassion, they take time to find out about your family member and add their voice to the service.As we all know Covid impacts on every aspect of our lives even our deaths, making attending funerals difficult due to the restrictions, but the Arka ladies even manage to deal with this; whilst strictly observing all the various protocols they still manage to create a warm loving farewell fitting for my son.As previously stated I cannot recommend them and thank them enough for all they did.

In an unusual and only slightly macabre twist, I get to review my service and coffin from ARKA in person. The ladies I dealt with were very respectful and polite from first contact to delivery of my eco coffin. Very reasonably priced, and very professional service, and I'm probably one of very few people who've just spent their first night in their own coffin, and with a few additions (a pillow, a quilt, etc) I can safely say it was a warm cosy night's sleep. I actually get to rest in peace, in all senses of the term. Thank you, kind ladies, thank you ARKA, and long may you continue to help people - you really are absolutely wonderful.

Arka are honestly amazing, the girls there are so empathetic and truly want to give you the best experience in such a sad time. Their ethos and compassion for my sister and family was really appreciated. They made the whole experience for myself and my family so easy. Everyone's needs were met, they sent us a lovely follow up letter after with some forget me nots to plant. I honestly cannot recommend them enough.

ARKA were absolutely wonderful after my son died abroad suddenly . They were involved in his repatriation and were incredibly empathetic and respectful during this terribly traumatic time for myself and my family.These warm and compassionate ladies dealt with every aspect of the process professionally.The reception area and room where you can spend time saying goodbye to your loved one are beautifully calm spaces. My son was treated with such care and dignity, as were we.Every aspect of the organisation of the funeral was sensitively taken care of and I can’t thank ARKA enough for guiding us through, we felt safe in their hands.

The ARKA funeral service for our Harry which took place last July 2020 was nothing less than perfect. They were gentle and caring the whole time and looked after every aspect of the day.
