The Villa Wildlife Centre
One of the few places left in England to see Ted Squirrels. Also possible to see Sikha deer, Peacocks and an amazing number of wading birds.

If you have any questions about the wildlife in Brownsea Island, this is the place you should go to. This premises has washroom facilities. You will pass this building (looks like a house) as walk along the walking trails in Brownsea Island. Thanks.

We went across to Brownsea Island and the Wildlife Centre one Saturday in October. You have to catch a boat from Poole Quay and when you arrive enter the National Trust area before you can get to the Centre. Entry is not free but the money supports the work of the Centre. It has a number of hides that look out on to the lagoon on the east side of the Island. There is also a visitor centre with displays and the wildlife that you can see. Brownsea Island is home to red squirrels which are now rare in the UK and we saw several. Hopefully we will go back again at a different time of year.

The Dorset Wildlife Trust are based here on Brownsea Island - lovely place and great centre. Just a shame, once at this point or the hide by the lake, there is no other way except walking right back to the entrance of the Wildlife Trust's section.
