Hanford Homes is a York based Letting Agent. It is a family firm run by Tony & Alexis Hanford. They have provided me (a landlord with rental income of £30,000 pa) with an excellent service over a number of years - professional and good-natured - at competitive rates. I have appreciated their attention to detail and their ability to cope with an occasionally difficult tenant. Recently had the pleasure of working with Hanford Homes LTD to let one of our properties. It was a nightmare; the entire experience with the letting agent was awful.As a tenant, I do not recommend them. I've never had so many issues with renting previously.The chap who “owns” the estate agent doesn’t see any of the properties, which isn't best business practice in my opinion for the reasons below.The inventory is done badly, or at least it was in this particular case.I keep proof, and as with anything, I understand that it's better to have it than not.I have many aspects of this tenancy that I could add that we, as a family, were not happy with.But it would take simply too long to write it all.It has always seemed like it was more the landlord pulling the strings than the estate agent instructed to let the property.It was often the case that the landlord used our property to store her stuff, even causing damage that she later tried to claim we did,but it was her blatant disregard for her own clumsiness. I mean, a very big and sharp saw falling down the stairs from the loft is serious.We had children in the house. (Thankfully, not at that hour.)In summary, this whole let was a bizarre one, and I do not recommend this letting agent.They make out that they efficiently corrected problems, which simply wasn't the case. I hope this review can help other people when making a decision to rent any property with them.They’ll want you to leave the property in a better state than it was given to you .We had to take further action to resolve this problem. (It was successfully resolved).To be accused of painting that we never did. (Photo evidence that we took when we moved in cleared this up).

If I could give this company 10 stars I would as 5 just doesn't seem enough. Handford Homes took over management of our property as the last management we had were absolutely useless. Handford Homes have been amazing from day one, as soon as any issues with the property were reported they made sure it was dealt with and sorted as soon as possible not to mention great communication and always kept us updated on what was happening. Really friendly and honest company I would highly recommend
