If like us, you're staying at Darwin Forest Holidays (5 minute drive away), Matlock Farm Park is an ideal family day out. There are lots of animals to see, from sheep, ducks, horses, llamas and our favourite the white deer. All of them look healthy and well cared for, very friendly and will approach the fence for food and/or strokes. You can purchase animal food at the kiosk when you enter, look out for the signs at each paddock as they indicate which animals can be feed. The farm has multiple picnic benches in various areas. If you want to eat onsite, you can order from one of the multiple cafes, there were food trailers onsite but closed during our visit. The rainforest cafe is perfect for children as it houses an indoor playground, as well as a smaller padded section for little ones. There is a large enclosed building called the enchanted hamlet located towards the back of the farm, this housed a huge play area for all ages. The reason for the 4 stars is solely down to the food and staff attentiveness. We stood and waited in the rainforest cafe for several minutes whilst a staff member who knew we were there, had our back to us and continued to write out a list. We then noticed the same situation happen again to other customers, but this time the employee was talking over the walkie talkie. I ordered a slice of pizza, when it arrived I noticed the resemblance to frozen Chicago Town stuffed crust, it even tasted the same, shocking for £3.95, when you can get a whole one from £5 in sainsburys. All in all, still a great day out, very clean and well kept. Would recommend and visit again if vacationing in the area.

Lovely little farm with lots of different animals who are friendly enough to come over and eat out of your hand, plus stroke. A couple of parks to play in, plus jumping trampoline type game. The bouncy castle wasn't inflated. They have crazy golf which is £2 per ball and good fun.Toilets clean and tidy, plenty of places to sit and/or picnic.Lots of different food available and different activities throughout the day.

Fantastic day out with the children. Evey year this place gets better and better. Upgrades every time and the kids loved the new sand area. Plenty to so and great value for money. Looking forward to our next visit!!!!

I've only given this 1 star because I can't give it zero! What an absolute disgrace of a place. This place enforced 20+ children onto a school trip during storm Babet all because they didn't wish to refund us or move our date, stating that the park was open so they wouldn't be inclined to help. This school trip included at least 5, 2 year old children. On arrival to the farm 2 hours late there was literally nothing open other than the soft play with a coffee shop, the lady in there was so disgustingly rude I have never encountered this behaviour in my life.We spent 1 hour in there to eat lunch with the children. Tried to attempt a walk around the park in the torrential rain, no animals out. Wouldn't open barns for us to see animals inside or let us do the small animal petting so after another failed attempt at the headteacher speaking to the management, it was decided in the best interest of the children we would go home. So headed back to the bus. No apologies, no offer of a 50% discount which they were offering on their Facebook page to other customers, just a free bag of animal food that got so soaked in our pockets they ended up all over the floor and no animals to feed. They tried to palm us off with a free" drink. This free drink comes with your ticket anyway if you go on the toddler session.I would not ever recommend this place to anyone. Which is a shame because the park is lovely and would be great on a dry day but the attitude and unprofessionalism of staff and management put a lot of the families on our trip off. At no point did this place put the safeguarding and welfare of our children first only their profits!!!One staff member told us as soon as you leave the park we are closing as its not safe for our staff to be here

Absolutely LOVE this place. It's ideal for kids of all ages, including adults. The staff are so friendly you really feel welcomed. The facilities are lovely and clean. The animals are adorable, friendly and most importantly well cared for.The food is nice and affordable too. I highly recommend.I absolutely love the support for home education too!My only suggestion is there needs to be more for toddlers, they are too big for the small indoor play area and too small for the big one. They can't really feed the animals and they are too small for pony rides and bouncy pillow.

We had a really good time at the vintage tractor and jurassic day. There was plenty to do, despite the brief downpour. The food was incredible and staff were kind and helpful too.
