Purchased the Ladies Freminton boots - absolutely brilliant. The fact they come in 5 different widths means your feet get the right fitting boots they deserve. Brilliant customer service as always - the machine that maps your feet really is fab! The first walks my boots did were Braeriach and Ben Macdui - which in summer conditions they were perfect for!

BLUF - Service not great, “custom” boots are no different to “wide” from other boot makers.Embarked on a five hour round trip to the factory following a phone call consultation as I had heard good things!Was clear on the phone that I had a wide orthotic (I still fit it into trainers and ‘some’ walking shoes). They said this wouldn’t be a problem and told me that width isn’t an issue. I asked if they were limited on width, or can they custom make soles. He told me that they can custom make and that width won’t be an issue. He then booked me in for an fitting appointment.Within 1 minute of arrival, they said that they’ve only got a couple width’s of sole and that none of their boots would fit. I asked about walking shoes, no help either. They don’t make soles bespoke.Bottom line, be honest over the phone before people start driving across the country.

Very high-quality boots. I've had my pair for 6 years and on my 2nd sole replacement.An important note is that the shop is very popular and so is very often busy so plan to be waiting when you visit.

Great boots made in the North. I bought my walking boots here over 20 yrs ago and they still have many years left in them. My wife needed new boots so it was an easy decision to make. Great service, great boots and a very fair price for a quality item.

A combination of the latest technology with laser ,3D measurement of my feet and traditional boot maker skills with lasts etc . Soldiers were having their feet measured for new army boots a testimony to the quality and high standards. It's nearly 30 years since I had English made boots and they are brilliant. Comfortable and a great fit . Reasonable price for high quality product and excellent service.

Brilliant welcoming and knowledgeable staff. I have worn Altbergs for years but this was my first visit to the factory.Got a real bargain on a slight seconds pair and very pleased I went. 4 mins out of Richmond centre.
