Declutter My Space

The house is feeling wonderful, clear and organised after Kim arrived and set to work. It only took 4 hours and Kim was so practical, helpful and worked extremely quickly. I can highly recommend to anyone who is looking to sort through, get rid and generally cut down on clutter at home. What I especially appreciated was knowing that the car load that Kim took away at the end of the day was going to go to various different charities where the items would go to good homes/uses.

Highly recommend Kim and her team! Marsha had been extremely helpful to help organise our flat. We just recently moved in and didn’t know where to start, basically SOS for us! She is very, very organised and transformed one of the bedrooms only within hours. Already booked for more sessions.

She took charge (but in a friendly and helpful way) and was open to trying to meet my objectives. Marsha is amazing! She helped me transform my underbed storage and walk in wardrobe in one session! I’d felt overwhelmed by all the mess but now I feel I have systems in place that I can continue going forwards. I’ll be booking again soon!

With Marsha's great help tackled my wardrobe and drawers of clothing doing a much needed sort through and taking away things I can no longer wear, good to know much will be going to places that can make use of them. I would have found this just daunting by myself. Highly recommend this company.

Carly decluttered our house, she was a joy to have around and worked tirelessly getting through so much stuff in such a short time and taking away so many carloads of stuff we no longer needed. Absolutely recommend.

Carly was amazing with my elderly parents who were nervous about downsizing. Everything got sorted into piles for recycling, the charity shop, a women’s refuge and for keeping. We achieved such a lot and my parents were super happy.I would recommend to anyone. Brilliant!

I booked Declutter My Space to help me unpack and organise things from boxes in the kitchen, my clothes and books after a house move. Irame arrived on time and was very friendly. I asked Irame to start on the kitchen first and after she unpacked boxes, I was surprised that she didn’t help me organise anything. She said given that I said I would clean/put things through the dishwasher first, she wouldn’t bother making anything nice in the kitchen. She said she can do it afterwards, which would be more time consuming and I was being charged by the hour. So I found plates, saucepans, glasses, etc randomly in different cupboards and not together. Random things were in drawers, whatever would fit in so that the drawers would close. Things in my drawers looked a mess.Throughout the day Irame said because although I initially booked 3 hours, she could stay longer and that she would stop when I asked her to, which I was happy with as this gave me a sense of being able to control how much I wanted to spend on this service.I then asked her to help me unpack clothes and I asked for them to be hung in categories (ie coats together, dresses together, tops together, etc) and colour order (etc whites together, black together, etc). She said she would also do tops by sleeve lengths which I said was fine. Later, I checked and she said she would do sleeve length first then organise everything by colour last which I thought was odd, because that would take a lot longer. With empty wardrobes, I would have thought it would be easy to do by category, colour and sleeve length all at the same time. I asked her to organise by colour and because of this, she took a lot longer than I anticipated to hang up the number of clothes I needed hanging.I saw how slow progress was at the 5.5 hours’ mark so I asked Irame to help me unpack 2 boxes and 1 bag of books/DVDs/folders onto a small book shelf which should have been easy for the last 30 minutes. Before the 6 hours’ mark, I noticed that Irame just put the folders straight into the book shelf horizontally with the folder bind facing the side. I asked her to turn them so that they are vertical with the bind facing forward as I can’t see what they are and those folders can actually stand up vertically so I can see straight away what they are. I don’t understand why anyone would shove folders onto a book shelf like that (as how you would carry some folders and put them straight onto a shelf).When I went back at the 6 hours’ mark, I asked her to wrap up now as it is already 6 hours and she said she just needed to finish up. Even though Irame told me a few times during the day that she will stop anytime I asked, she wanted to carry on as it would only take a little while longer. I saw that the DVDs were put onto the book shelf horizontally, with covers facing up and the DVD box binding side facing the side of the bookshelf (like the folders). This means I can’t see the titles of the DVDs when looking at the book shelf. I was shocked why Irame would put DVDs like that on a shelf and I asked her to stand them up as I can’t see what each of them are. When she finished, it was at 6 hours 20 mins and she said she could do some other things for another 10 minutes and I would be charged 6.5 hours. I had to make some things up for Irame to help for 10 more minutes and not go over, as I did not want to be charged 7 hours when actually I knew she couldn’t do much more to help me.Overall, I am very disappointed as I hired this company advertised as a Professional Organiser yet Irame didn’t help me organise my kitchen things, took a lot longer with clothes as she didn’t organise by colour when hanging up but doing them afterwards and how she would put DVDs and folders onto a shelf. This way of unpacking and organising would mean probably double the amount of time and I don’t know if it is a scheme to charge clients more as it takes a lot longer and the service was charged by the hour.It was good to have Irame help me at least unpack items but I also felt very frustrated at the end.
