So I have travelled from the other side of the world, just happen to be riding here. Looking online, seems like they’re pretty cool about letting you ride inside & do a few laps. After all it is a pretty run-down old velodrome that only gets used for a few hours once each year. But “non”, a grumpy official in a Roubaix shirt ran over to me and made it clear I wasn’t allowed to ride around the velodrome. I tried my best smiling visitor plea & poor French, “Je suis Australien”… to no avail. Off I was sent packing, and the velodrome stayed sad & quite in it’s run down state. In all seriousness, Roubaix does not have a lot going for it in terms of natural beauty or tourist attractions. Here you have one thing that is recognized all over the world as a famous icon. Embrace that fame & make it a welcoming place for visiting cyclists. You might just make both the visitors & locals very happy.

A truly historic cycling mecca that has to be visited when Paris-Roubaix is happening. It's free to enter after 13.30hrs on race day and there are numerous stalls and refreshments including Jupiler beer flowing nicely. Be aware that Roubaix is an industrial town and is a rough place. My advice is stay in Lille which is only a 20 minute train journey away.

Myself and 3 friends are cycling from Cambridge to Rome in June 2023. We would like to visit the Velodrome and ideally do a couple of laps. Who do we need to contact in advance to organise this? Or do we just turn up? Thanks.

What can I say, cycling nerd so this place was cool to visit. Didn’t ride on the track so I won’t attest to that. Folks at the cycling shop we’re very friendly and opened the doors for my friend and I to wander around inside and see all the memorabilia.

First time there and it was amazing. I will donor again.

Lugar mítico del ciclismo. Alucinante y mágico. Yo accedí desde un lateral al recinto deportivo y pude visitar el velódromo sin problema. Lo recorrí dando una vuelta entera. Las duchas no pude acceder porque no sé cómo se consigue ticket o donde se puede entrar. Podrían explicarlo en algún lugar, muy poca información.
