Four Elms Medical Centre

The worst practice I have been under, the receptionist is is hard to deal with as she doesn't know what she is doing. The doctors and nurses I have spoken to have no empathy or understanding and treat their patients as if we want to pull a fast one on them. You can't get through on the phone unless it's after appointments are closed which is useless, I don't understand how they are still open the inspectorate pdf on their site seems like the insoectors visited a different gp all togwther

I've been with Four Elms for over 8 years and have always found the various Doctors, Nurses, Reception team, Counsellor and everybody else to be really helpful and caring. Dr Guilford in particular has been really understanding and supportive especially with regards to mental wellbeing, and now that I'm about to move out of the area, I hope my next Medical Practice is as helpful as Four Elms!

It's time to name and shame: Ms Angela Way - the practice manager who does not manage! A total waste of tax payers' money!By reading the comments anyone can tell this practice is in a total mess.Angela, if you're reading - hang your head in shame!

Drastic improvements needed at this surgery. On Monday 27th September between my personal and work phone I tried calling for an appointment over 500 times! 3 times I 'got through' only to be then cut off. The Dr's are great and very personable.I called today (8th Oct) and the phone rang for a solid 30 mins before anyone picked up. There was no 'sorry to keep you waiting' and receptionist had the cheek to say 'if they call back, may sure the line is free'. I swear they just let the phones ring and ring in the hope that the other surgery will pick up.It wouldn't be so bad if there was a queuing system telling you where you are in the queue. Tried to register for My Health Online but the surgery is not on the list.

Trying to get an appointment is difficult and frustrating, I spent over 1 hr frantically redialling between 08:30am & 09:30am in order to obtain an ‘emergency appointment’. This has happened on a number of occasions when trying to book appointments around 08:30am.When you do get an appointment, the GPs are very understanding and caring. I cant fault them.Back to the bookings system, on the occasions I did get through - the call terminated after I went through the “press 1 for …. Press 2 for…” to which I then had to begin redialling all over again (see attached image) - also the Welsh language line isn’t staffed so always best to go for the english option.In all honestly the booking system had me in tears of frustration, nothing worse when you feel so unwell to feel like you’ve been shrugged off by a system which is either overloaded or poorly staffed. I am disappointed there isn’t a better way to book appointments; but when you do get through the Drs there to do make time for you, and act very professionally.

Absolutely disgusting treatment and complete disregard to patients well being. Have been on the phone several times after being on hold for half an hour each time and have been refused a new prescription even though the doctors have been at fault and prescribed me medication that I cannot take they are unwilling to fix this and change my prescription even though I’ve run out and are making me ring up again the famous 8:30 line for me to go through this whole thing again. Would not recommend this doctors surgery to anyone if they want to be helped in anyway.

Overall these doctors are great. I have been with them my whole life and they are lovely. I have never had an issue with the receptionists they've all been pleasant and the doctors are very helpful and lovely. If I've ever had an issue they have always apologised and sorted it out. They are trying to better their appointment system and being able to book online now is great!

I have been with this surgery and the CRI surgery for most of my life. I prefer to stay with Four Elms because the doctors are excellent. Yes, it can take about 20 minutes to get through to the receptionist, but the vast majority of the staff are helpful and sometimes even go out of their way to help where they can. I find it is better to go into the surgery to talk to the receptionists.You can order a repeat prescription and sometimes book appointments online through the myhealthonline website if you set up an account through the surgery. They give you a sheet that explains how to do it.I would like to say that one of the doctors saw my husband as an emergency appointment a few years ago when he was very agitated and hurting himself. But whereas some doctors might have refused to deal with him in such a state, he talked to my husband calmly and made an emergency appointment with the mental health team for him. He handled my husband with such compassion.The other doctors are all excellent too. If something doesn't seem right, they investigate further with tests and a referral if necessary. They really look after you. I think they have a very good team of GPs and I wanted to point out that I choose to stay with this surgery even though it isn't the nearest one to me.

I have recently moved to the area and have had my registration with the practice confirmed. I have been attempting to organise my repeat prescription with the surgery which has proven to be an arduous task to say the least. I’ve finally had it re-issued since they allowed Superdrug to collect it for reasons that are beyond me as I have never been in a Superdrug, let alone authorise for them to take my prescription. Despite all of this, the reason I am unhappy is because of the attitude and the way in which I was spoken to by the receptionist called Wendy. Absolutely vile and uncalled for. Can someone provide me with the complaints procedure as I believe Wendy needs to learn basic interpersonal skills

I’ve called a number of times over the last few years and as with other GPs it is getting harder and harder to get an appointment.This is understandable but the aggressive, rude, unhelpful and arrogant receptionist makes it a terrible experience.Each time I call I am shocked just how bad someone can handle customer service. I’ve encountered a small number of staff who seem to hate customers/patients but she has to be top of the list. So much so that it’s resulted in me submitting my first review ever.Four Elms have managed to make a difficult task much worse by employing this receptionist.
