The Temeraire - JD Wetherspoon
We arrived at the premises with a group of friends for quiet drink. We were greeted by a rather strange member of staff who was working on the bar.We placed our order and at this point from the till we could see her name was Marie, she had a name badge but it just stated Team Leader. She took our payment and started serving the drinks, she then was distracted by what look like a radio call. At this point we had three of our five drinks, then she turned to another member of staff and said my foods ready and just walked off.We waited by the bar thinking someone was going to finish our order only to see Marie appear behind us at a table eating her food. Now we were truly shocked and extremely disappointed, that her food came before serving customers. The other member of staff come by and asked if everything was ok and we explained what had happened, and she apologised for Marie’s behaviour and said she would rectify the problem. Marie then called out to this member of staff saying I had to go my food was ready. Now we know this next member of staff to be Bailey, and she was very apologetic and extremely professional.Whilst Marie carried on laughing that she had walked away without completing our order, the other member of staff had to pick up the pieces.I was appalled that Marie had treated us like this and was very surprised she was in fact a team leader, when it was clear her own member of staff had better work ethics than herself.Appalling behaviour Marie, I’m sure your manager will be as disappointed as we were.

Stayed in Saffron Walden for the Noel Gallagher gig at Audley end. We came here on Friday night and Saturday before the gig.. The pub is absolutely lovely!! Great venue and very welcoming. As it's a Wetherspoons there was a superb selection of alcohol on offer! The bar staff were all very friendly and didn't mind answering our questions about the area. Overall an excellent experience....

Located along the Main Street area… good value meals and drinks available! Really beautiful historical building to look around and the pub also have garden seatings at the back. Nice and lovely staff during our visit

One of the largest beer gardens of any pub, never mind 'Spoons, that I have ever seen. Fantastic for summer evenings.Service on certain days (for example when there's a big gig on at the nearby Audley End House) is despairingly slow. Not the fault of the staff, but maybe a bit of planning for the sheer numbers would help?

My children and I love Wetherspoons in Saffron Walden - a lovely treat on a Friday afternoon. Nuggets and chips with a pepperoni pizza to share (and a brew dog for dad) - a firm family favourite. Staff are excellent… always friendly and helpful - thank you!

The staff were brilliant, very friendly and couldn't do enough for me. The food I had was OK . It may sound petty but the only problem I had was the lack of choice in the condiments. They had the standard red , brown sauce, mayo vinegar and salt and pepper but that's it . I would go back again though

Dirty and in need of a full refurb. Everything was filthy, carpets were disgusting.Food was awful, even compared to other wetherspoon pubs. The one highlight of the meal was the friendly and attentive waiting staff. Couldn't have been better. It's a shame that this dive of a place doesn't live up to their staff.I will not be returning.

My daughter and myself chose the same and had a large mixed grill, came with only 2 out of 6 onions so had to ask for more, the lamb was a big ball of mixed fat and meat, beef was really nice as was the pork and gammon but we still enjoyed the meal. I tried to give a tip with my card but was an unavailable option.

Excellent restoration of a large classic family home in Saffron Walden. Large ground floor with many separate areas to dine in. Usual Wetherspoon value and friendly efficient staff made for a good lunch.
