I really enjoyed this free course. Once I had actually got my fabric and tools sorted out it didn't take long to complete. It is the first time I've drawn/traced the pattern on to the fabric and I'm really pleased with how it's turned out. I would love to complete further courses but sadly out of my price range at the moment.

I have just completed Skill Stage 3 in Patchwork and Quilting, and just like a great book, I almost didn't want it to end!!A truly trans formative journey for my creative path, well communicated and delivered, with outstanding support and advice from my brilliant tutor Deborah Jarvis...I would happily do the whole course again!I very much look forward to starting the next level, but for now, I'm enjoying practicing all the skills that I have learnt along the way. Many thanks to you all at School of Stitched Textiles, I've had the most fabulous experience with you.See you for level 4 soon!!!Jo Rycroft x

I have just completed the Level 3 Hand Embroidery course. I started the course with limited stitching experience and was a little concerned I may find myself out of my depth but I wanted to push myself. I've loved it! I've tried lots of new techniques I never would have tried left to my own devices.Part of the reason for choosing this course (rather than learning stitching from you tube etc) was the design development elements. I now have a much better process for taking initial ideas and developing them into designs. I also found the business planning and marketing modules particularly useful, and I'm sure I will draw on these in the future. At times it can be difficult to feel motivated (this is where the difference to studying in person is most apparent), but the tutors are there to encourage you and there is a lovely supportive community of other students online which really helps.I would definitely recommend these courses.

What have I learned through completing the machine embroidery beginners course? It's not just about what was taught: to start with I was encouraged to read my sewing machine manual - I did, from cover to cover, muttering to myself 'oh, so that's what that's for .... isn't that clever' and the like; needless to say I had learned something already! As I worked through the modules my confidence grew using my machine (I even got to grips with the needle threader) and the realisation that I had used but a fraction of its capabilities. By the time I had completed the final module I was fired up and created several different versions adding to and adapting it - making it my own as they say.I am pleased that I chose to do this to give me an insight and a good start into the craft.

Really enjoyed the SS3 Textiles course, which was a mixture of Machine Embroidery and Patchwork and Quilting. Tutors and staff always ready to help, supportive group of students on FB too. Lots of work, but you really can see how far you have progressed when you look back to early modules. Modular nature of course was a good motivation to finish a piece of work and send it in. You then draw on these skills later in the course when working on final pieces for assessment.

I completed the skill stage 3 in hand embroidery and then went on to do skill stage 4. four years in total. I loved both courses. A good range of tasks, support from the team, contact with other students through social media and a recognised qualification at the end. It has made me explore areas I might not have considered otherwise and really extended my design skills as well as my embroidery skills. If you’re looking for an online course for some serious but enjoyable textile studying I highly recommend The School of Stitched Textiles.

I'd been crocheting for 5 years and wanted to push myself further. I chose School of Stitched and Textiles, level three, City and Guilds. The course allows you to push your creative skills and also gives you the opportunity to learn how to become a businesss. It's great I've been able to do it from home but are there if you need any support.I've thoroughly enjoyed the course and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to further their skills.

I am thrilled to have completed SST's Patchwork and Quilting skill stage 4 course. I am planning to retire from my full time job in less than 5 years. I wanted to complete the course so I could continue to design and make textile art with the added confidence that I have achieved a recognised qualification. I intend to compliment my retirement income by designing patterns and teaching workshops both locally and nationwide in New Zealand.School of Stitched Textiles course has stretched me, sometimes in ways I didn't think I wanted to go, but always with great results and new learning. They have prepared me for the riggers of finishing my work for sale, cataloging, presenting, marketing and tracking sales against a budget. The communication with staff and my tutors has been amazing. Replies to questions have usually been within 24 hours, which is great considering how far from UK I am.I have enjoyed my course immensely and can recommend it to others.

I have really enjoyed studying with the School of Stitched Textiles. The level 3 hand embroidery course has helped me improve my skills and has grown my confidence and enthusiasm for hand embroidery. In particular it has helped me to see that I am capable of designing pieces from scratch. There have been times when I found it difficult to fit the course around life in general, but it really is the most flexible of courses and you get lots of support to get you through
