This was going to be a 4* star review, but they’ve lost a star due to the breakdown/lack of service in the last half hour of our visit.First of all, this is a really, really lovely place. Very clean, tastefully decorated and gardens, patios and outdoor bars to rival any pubs I’ve been to, I can’t speak highly enough of the premises. Also a great choice of beers on tap.With regards to the food, we were there today which is a Sunday so we had roast dinners. The starters, belly bites & salmon salad, were excellent, fresh and well presented. My partner had a chicken supreme for her main which was apparently excellent, and I had the roast beef. They lose a star for my main, the beef was wafer then and cold. The veg was ok, nothing exceptional for an £18 dinner. The other star they lose was because at the end of the meal we asked for a dessert menu, which after a gentle reminder, appeared 10 minutes later. We were then sat with said menu for another 15 minutes before giving up and asking for the bill. For some reason, they were unable to add on gratuity to the card machine unless you actually put the card in so had to pay a tip by cash. I will say, apart from the final half an hour, the service was both attentive and professional.All in all, a lovely pub, but plenty of room for improvement as far as food is concerned, certainly on a Sunday.

Lunch was great, food excellent. With attentive and friendly service. The Nacho's are unbelievable and there big definitely would say there a Sharing plate lol.. It was a nice sunny day when i went so sat in the lovely garden with great views.5*****Went back again the weekend 13/11/22, again food was great, service as expected top notch,Came here again 30/09/23 very nice again had the steak and mustard on a flat bread sandwich which was really good and more filling that you’d think.

We had a wonderful time Saturday evening. The waitress was very accommodating and gave an excellent recommendation with the Korean broccoli. They had the basics right by providing clean cutlery, a clean table, clean salt and pepper mills, etc. which is not easy to come by these days. Prices were adequate for the portion quality and quantity. Will certainly visit again.

A little gem that I hadn't been to for years. The bar service was very friendly upon arrival. We made our way to the restaurant, our server was Hannah, she was amazing. The food as you can see was perfect in every way. This was my 2nd day off in 2 months and I am so glad I decided to spend it at The Durham Ox. A huge thank you and to mention again Hannah, as she had to put up with my cheesy whit n humour.We will definitely be going back. Be warned Hannah and team. Thank you for such an amazing afternoon.

Beautiful pub with attentive staff, lovely atmosphere and delicious food. We came here as a last minute choice, because their menu showed that they do gluten free options. Our waitress (maybe called Hannah...) was really friendly and knowledgeable, she was also really understanding about allergies and made me feel confident that the kitchen take that side of things seriously. The space it's self is lovely too, with a garden and heaps of different seating options (booths, window tables, outside etc.) It's priced fairly for the quality of food and service, we're not local but would definitely go again if we're in the area :)

Would have reviewed higher but the service was a little lackadaisical. Everyone was super nice but on the Sunday we went most of the wait staff appeared to be high-school kids with no real interest in working. The food was great, definitely a huge plus, great food. Could have really used a better wait staff manager though, coordination amongst the tables was pretty poor and lessened the whole experience hence two stars.

Met up at the Durham Ox with a party of 9 for a reunion. Food, ambience, service were all genuinely excellent. We were looked after very indeed and appreciated the efficiency of the service. Did not need to eat much the following day. Highly recommended and lovely setting. Thank you.

Called in Thursday evening after a day fishing nearby. Quite busy quizz night good atmosphere,staff very friendly. Large outside areas, lots of table's and seating. Enjoyed the food really tasty well presented, good menu selection. Prices are okay,what you would expect to pay. Enjoyed my visit would go back.
