The Model Shop

I went in here today to buy a birthday present for my husband as he buys lots of stuff in here, but never again, the man behind the desk totally ignored us, and when I asked him a question he was so rude and condensending I am surprised he has any customers left, no wonder people prefer to buy stuff off the internet if that's his attitude!!!! I hope he goes bust!!! We certainly won't be going back there. !!!!

What an Aladdin's cave loads of everything you could hope to find great advice to go with the large amount of stock

My son is into modelling and trains, builds his own layout, has everything you need and reasonable engines for sale, the gentleman is always very helpful, seen his stand at some of the exhibitions. Lovely little shop

I don't see how this shop has a five star review when most people have given it a bad score. This 'gentleman' is obnoxious and is not willing to help unless you do what he says. I have entered this shop many times and found that I walk away empty handed and upset that there is no interest in the customer unless they look like they have money. I once went in to the store and asked for some parts yet due there being a couple of options (3) he was not willing to get the parts so I could see what I needed due to the fact that I did not know the correct terminology. I have also brought a second hand item from him and repaired it and he turned round and said he did not believe me. For spending an hour to get to the store I felt cheated. Do not buy from this person unless you are willing to ignore his apparel / opinions and attitude.

Quality compact railway modelling shop conveniently located within easy walking distance from the city centre. The owner is very friendly and helpful with a great knowledge and a genuine interest in modelling and of the products sold which is invaluable to anyone involved in the hobby, whether a novice or experienced. Recommened to visit!

Writing this review on behalf of my father who visited and was greeted very nicely from the person behind the counter. He was after buffers, copling hooks and coplings for model railway items. They got out several spares boxes and managed to provide him with everything that he needed. The copling hooks he fitted to the coach for my father and he also produced two coplings from airfix loco that my father had tried to find from several places around the country and was told he had no hope of obtaining, yet The Model Shop had them.

I took my dad here the staff are lovely and very helpful but a little overpriced, having said that it is compared to internet shopping and it is worth paying a little extra to keep these little gems open.

Wasteful long slog up the hill from station for a shop of pricey new and pricey second hand in a box. A few kits and bits (Parkside wagon kits £11.95 for example) but no second hand rummage boxes or modeller stuff (with the exception of a good range of tools and consumables)..... bit disappointed.

Well, I cannot understand the previous negative comments. I recently needed to change two items by post and the owner could not have been more helpful and courteous. A VERY good experience. A treasure trove too!

This was our first visit to this Aladdin's cave of model railway equipment. The owner was so helpful and it was a pleasure to shop there.
