John Bray Cornish Holidays

Great house and great location. Service from John Bray has been poor, we were left without any linen with 4 young children and badly let down by their inability to address the issue they caused.

Very happy holiday and John Bray looked after us very well as usual.

We booked a lovely cottage in Port Isaac with John Bray, April Cottage. It was a proper seaside, fisherman's cottage with a bit of quirkiness thrown in. It came with an outdoor decking area with sea views, ideal for alfresco dining and sunbathing. Two days before we left we received a phone call from John Bray informing us that the adjoining property was having some work done and that scaffolding was in place, I replied that as long as it didn't spoil the view then it hopefully would be fine. However, sitting on the decking we did have a lovely view......of the scaffolding!! Ok, we can live with that but then the workmen arrived and bearing in mind that these are adjoining properties you can only imagine how close these men were to our decking. Banging, drilling an dance music being played from 8.30 in the morning wasn't an ideal start to a day and there was no way my wife was going to sit there in her pjs while strange men were working 10 feet away from her. We had been told that the scaffolding was due to come down that week but there was no way that was going to happen.Also while we were there the carbon monoxide alarm went off at 4am. We rushed downstairs and opened the windows and doors. Upon inspection the detector was very much past its use by date, later confirmed by one of their employees.I went to the local John Bray office in the village to mention both things and was told someone would come out to look at the alarm. Unfortunately my wife had to return to the office just as they were closing at 5pm as no one had been that day to sort it. Eventually someone did arrive about 5.45 and confirmed the alarm needed changing and he would return in the morning with a new one, which he did.We loved Port Isaac and we loved April Cottage BUT we felt let down by John Bray who we feel should have warned us when we booked the property NOT 2 days before. We also feel that they lacked any urgency when dealing with the carbon monoxide alarm as we had to make 2 journeys to complain before they did anything about it.Would I book with John Bray again or recommend them, more than likely not.

Using John bray for the third time this year and must say excellent service I've always received, used different properties and been more than happy with all of them !
