Wolverhampton Goldthorn Hotel

Was quite disappointed with this hotel. Tired and in need of some upgrade. We arrived expecting a swimming pool as this was advertised on the website of the booking company and we drove 6 hours to get here.We were disappointed on arrival to find it had been closed for over 6 months. Management did give us 2 rounds of free drinks but i just felt there were other things that let this hotel down.the bedroom was far too hot (July) and the road noise was very load - we eid not get a good quality of sleep. In the evening when i went to get drinks, there was 2 or 3 other people in the bar eating batr meals and was told that it would be 10-15 minutes before i could get a drink because the person had to sort out the bar meals. I ended up just going to my room for half an hour and only came back because we had drinks vouchers to use.The breakfast was very slow. I think the previous day had been a buffet but th ed morning we ate, breakfast was being cooked to order. The food was nice although the continemental selection was very minimal. The hot foot was nice but took about 25-30 minutes to be made. The restaurant was by no means full so i felt that was bit lengthy.Reception were very helpful, but overall it was the most enjoyable experience. We were visiting on holiday as a family and i just expected a lot more from such a well known brand of hotel.

Good location for access. Friendly service on arrival but no offer to take luggage up to room and as our room was up several flights of stairs this proved disappointing. Room decor dated. Shower appaling, choice of a luke warm dribble or a freezing shower. No double glazing and next to very busy main road so lots of traffic noise. Creaky floors, doors banging, noisy guests didn't help sleep. No apparent heating controls. Bed very comfortable. Room and bathroom clean.

I booked a room here on internet and the check in, just half an hour later, was fast, friendly and completely uncomplicated.The room self and the bathroom were both clean and spacious. The beds very comfortable.All the around the staff is very friendly.The best is that the hotel bar is open 24/7, which leaded to a longer night up than expected and an oversleep on the check out time. But that as well wasn't a problem, just leaded to a good laugh with the Lady at the reception.

The pool was empty which was disappointing because it was 30+ degrees outside. The drinks weren't cheap, a drink cost almost £10. The room was filthy, we asked for a change and i have to admit the staff were amazing! They changed our room. The set 3 course evening meal was tasty, the usual selection of roast dinner, fish and a vegetarian option. The walls of the hotel echoed, we must have been near stairs because all through the night we had banging doors and steps, one lady got stuck in her room at 7am and they were banging and shouting to get her out. Looked like new beds and clean sheets. We got a broken shower so the only option was cold and freezing, luckily it was so hot the cold shower was refreshing. To summarise, it's cheap and basic which is okay for one night.

Got into hotel after 9:30pm due to delayed train. They had stopped serving hot food. getting to my room carrying more than one bag wasn't easy as there are no lifts and it's a bit of a Labyrinth.Rooms were big though. Lots of storage and nice big bathrooms. Breakfast was decent. Staff very friendly. I would rather stay at the holiday Inn next time I am down for work though

An interesting place.. as it's a mix of old and new. So.. the good stuff. Lovely staff and excellent breakfast.My bedroom was in the old section and really showed it. No air con, the room was stifling hot and the window didn't open. The room was next to a fire door at the top of the stairs and floorboards creaked.The bed was uncomfortable and the room tiny. Bathroom was very cramped.We ate in the dining room, I had the steak and my partner the chicken.I've never seen such a dry piece of chicken and no sauce to temper it with.The frozen chips were uncooked and I have no idea what they did to the mushrooms but again, they were awful.Would I stay again, I'd like to day yes as the staff really were lovely but based on this visit is probably find somewhere else.

The downstairs is excellent, very clean, bright and airy, however, this is where it ends, the corridors are dark and dingy, grey in colour, there are step guards missing and absolutely no lifts.The room we had was a large double room, the bed was very good, a little hard for my liking but that's not the hotels fault. Very dated decor, tiger print wallpaper, grubby off white paint especially by the light switches, and no toilet brush. The only other thing about the room was that it was very very warm. The radiator was off so I don't know where the heat was coming from.On the plus side, all staff we met were very helpful and courteous, always with a smile.The chef was good, happy and chatty.During our stay my wife suffered a medical issue and the night staff were brilliant. A huge thanks from both of us.Overall we would stay again and would recommend the hotel.

Booked the restaurant for a baby shower. Staff were extremely accommodating from the very beginning planning stages. Nothing was ever too much for them even with all the changes we made to plans. On the day they went above and beyond. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was outstanding. The staff accommodated to our every needWe booked the afternoon tea which was lovely and our tea and coffee was always refilled.They even gave mum to be a card and free mocktail which was a lovely touch.Would defo reccomend this place.

Ill start by saying it only cost me £31 for bed and breakfast so cant really complain.But if you looking at paying more - the room was cold, sink blocked, toilet didnt work properly, room was dusty and needed a good clean, breakfast was ok but difficult to find a clean table - all the dirty plates just left on the tables. All in all the hotel looks pretty run down and not looked after but as I said for what I paid can expect too much.Staff were friendly though

Short: Nice rooms, good accomodations. Long: This is a very old building modelled into a hotel. It has the feel of being like that, which is nice generally. The wood work in the ceiling of room 80 is classic, for example. But the leak in the roof of room 50 during a rain storm was also classic in another way. The breakfast includes soymilk if you ask, a vegi sausages on the eight-item menu (eggs, oatmeal, real sausage, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, are the other items). Two different waiters were night and day...one cheerful and happy to serve and the other seeming to resent that you want to eat. The hotel is three buildings and one of them has a coded entrance of six digits to type on every entrance. There is a supermarket kitty-corner, and a nice fruit stand one block south, and bus stops for both directions visible from the roadfront. Staff were generally helpful and kind except Mr Sour mentioned already from breakfast. And even he wasn't unkind in a real sense. Rooms seemed very quiet until Saturday night, then the illusion evaporated. Plenty of free parking.
