James and his team were an absolute pleasure to deal with in my recent move from Reading to Scotland and I was delighted with the outcome. James is a pleasure to deal with and always on hand providing practical and personal advice at a time off stress! I’d thoroughly recommend him and his team!

Thanks to James and his team for our recent house move from Berkshire to Somerset, everything went well on the day and James and team were prompt and hard working meaning less stress for us. Highly recommended.

On 25th March James and his team agreed for my local moving and removed everything from the house to their Van in no time. James asked for full payment and paid in advance. Because of their request I agreed for a second trip pick up from my Garage. Unfortunately there was a long delay for unloading and finally they could unload at the new property and left not knowing anyone. Half of my stuff is still left in the Garage and they are not responding to my calls, messages and even my e-mails. Three days gone now ...God knows where Godwins Removals are disappeared....!

I cannot recommend James and his team enough for any removal you may have. They were so helpful to us, came to provide me a quotation very quickly and when my move date went down the drain, James couldn't have helped us more in swapping the dates over at very short notice.All of our items were looked after during the move and were brought into our house, even put into our rooms and organised the furniture for us!Godwins should in my opinion be at the top of your list for removals and I will be hiring them again should I find myself in the need for another house move!!Thank you so much James and team!!

Communication initially was positive and friendly, with James (the owner) whilst trying to accommodate the issues we faced with our exchange/completion dates changing.Starting with the positives, whilst there are few.1. We were actually moved from Reading to Wales within two working days2. The team were both friendly and hard working3. James the owner is both friendly and initially very helpful in accommodating our on completion date changes.However, we need to address the numerous problems we encountered with our experience with James and his business specifically.Upon the completion of the unload,1. We discovered that our solid oak table had all 4 of its legs broken at the joining braces2. Our solid wood bookshelf has the top ridge sheared off3. Scuffs to our leather chairs and our leather sofa.4. There were various other damages to a metal filing cabinet completed dented, several plastic storage boxes missing outer edges or wooden furniture with scuffs and scrapes.Many of these we were willing to accept as minor damages that could be expected, but our Solid oak dining table and our bookshelf were not acceptable. This was clearly the fault of poor loading, stacking and appropriate protection.The damages were immediately highlighted to the team, whom then dialled the owner James to report the damage. James at the time was offloading our boxes into our storage locker in Llaneli.Upon James arrival back to our new property, he immediately came to view the damages and obviously could not explain why. He offered to take them back with him and “get one of his guys” to repair the damages, whist promising to return the following weekend with our oak dining table and solid wood bookshelf.We asked about claiming on his insurance, to which he re-assured us that he would be able to make good on the damages and return the items. We had no reason to suspect that he would not honour his promise and that we did not mind how the items were repaired, so long as they were fixed or replaced.Prior to the team loading our furniture back on to the vans, we also highlighted a few other damaged items, James then asked us to email him a list of these items along with product links to replace them, which we promptly did.So one week later, we hear nothing, a second week goes by, still radio silence! We decided to follow-up and find out when we can expect to receive our furniture or an update on the insurance claim. We called a multitude of times, we texted, we whatsapp’ed, we emailed, left answer phone messages, nothing but silence.We know these messages were received, that’s the beauty of communication today however, no response.As suggested by Checkatrade, we gave James a deadline to respond by, this has now been and gone. This debacle has now gone on for 7 weeks, still without any form of reply or reassurance. We would have accepted there could have been delays, timing issues hey even illnesses but when someone completely avoids you it’s difficult to remain patient. We even offered in a voice mail just to take our furniture back and then we planned we would fix it ourselves, not that we should offer him a way out of his responsibilities.The only conclusion we can draw is that he is motivated to avoid any difficulties or problems by ignoring them and hoping they will go away, this is not a professional attitude nor a competent way to run a business. This can only result in negative experiences and subsequent reviews.We’d like to express our anger, our frustration and even our despair at being treated like this, but it isn’t professional and we intend to highlight our experience to others, so that you will not fall victim.We are happy to give one star for the move and for the hard work of the labourers…however we strongly advise you to steer clear of this business.If you want to risk your valuables being lost"
