Duffield Timber

I am very pleased with the service and product I received from Duffield Timber. At first I emailed and just asked for some samples - no problem at all they said and they arrived quickly. After that I was able to do the entire transaction via email and the product turned up exactly when they said it would. Thanks to Nick. Picture attached. The breadth of hardwood these guys have is incredible, and being able to freely browse the stock as a hobbyist woodworker is always a pleasure. At the counter the guys are respectable and knowledgable. The prices are certainly fair!My only quibble is that I work 9-5 Mon-Fri so I literally can't get over there in person without taking time off work which is a shame, but understandable as i'm sure their main trade is conducted during these days. Despite this, it's always on my to go list when I do book a couple of days off.

Recently placed an order for some Canadian Western Red Cedar. Many thanks to Alex for the excellent service they have provided.The wood has arrived today and is fantastic. Every piece is straight and in perfect condition. All of the timber was dry/seasoned, extremely well wrapped and packaged.The delivery company called in advance to agree a delivery date.A superb service from start to finish, with excellent communication throughout. Highly recommended and competitively priced.

What a fantastic experience visiting Duffield Timber was from start to finish. Such a warm welcome from the moment I poked my head round the door to ask if it was okay to take the dog inside, which was fine as long as she was on the lead. I think the chaps I spoke to fell in love with the dog a little bit.All the staff I interacted with were friendly and one young lad even took us through to where the turning blanks are kept.I have been searching for a suitable source of wood turning blanks since my local supplier closed and I have definitely found it here. The blanks are in squares so they will have to be rounded off on the bandsaw but not a big problem. There is a reasonable choice of species and sizes with pricing by the kilo, all clearly marked and with a set of scales for customer use to (try) and keep a check on the amount you're spending.What really amazed me the most was the amount and variety of short planks. Some species of wood I'd only seen in small pen blanks before were in large pieces of different thicknesses. There were slabs for bigger projects and burrs dotted around the walls to set the creative imagination on fire.I spent way too much but don't regret it for a second. The last two pictures show my treasure from the day.

Fantastic place for timber of all kinds, at extremely reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. If you need timber in Yorkshire this is the place to go!

Dropped in to search for a wide waney edge board of a native species of which there was a great choice at very reasonable prices. Found a board that was perfect but it wasn’t available for sale. Jack intervened and to cut a long story short, he acted very resourcefully and made it available. Snapped it up !Very happy on all counts. In fact all staff are very helpful. Five stars.

Top quality products. All types of wood stocked and lengths from 1.85M to 4.85M, in 300mm increments. They cut any profile required on site, within a week. Will definitely use again, highly recommended. Thanks.

Amazing place, I'm a hobbyist woodworker and there just doesn't seem to be anywhere else like this place where can can browse and look at different species. I just wish it was open weekends too so I could go more often
