We’ve had a really bad experience with my family at this restaurant. First of all, the waiters were undertrained. I didn’t get a spoon for my soup, they left all the dirty dishes on the table, they put anything we ordered on the side of the table and most of them generally just didn’t seem to care about their jobs.When we ordered our main courses, 3 out of the 6 of us ordered beef. After the starters, they said that they were out of beef, so we needed to order something else. We ordered some new dishes with chicken, but after another 10-15 minutes, they said that they were out of chicken too. At this point, at the table next to us (who arrived and ordered after us), the guests received four beef dishes, the same kind we wanted to order earlier. As a foreigner, I would like to assume that it had nothing to do with the fact that they were locals, and we were not, but I am not convinced.The foods that they actually had in stock were not really good either; the soup tasted like water, the bread was burned, and the fish and chips were really oily. The cocktails were okay.We will probably visit Oxford in the future, but we won’t even consider going back to this place again.

Nice, surroundings in heart of Oxford. Dinner was good, had to ask for condiments and no salt and pepper on tables. Alison was helpful and friendly. Cauliflower cheese could have been cheesier. Would come again

Looks like just a pub" (not a bad thing!) from outside but lovely and warm inside with a gastro menu. We had a table starter of mozarella balls and a soup starter

Went to The Red Lion, Oxford for a works Christmas lunch. The food was great, all three courses and the service was excellent. A particular shout out must go to Alison who was looking after us. All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Would recommend.

The food was amazing! I had the chicken roast. It was delicious. Very filling -- I'm taking some home with me for tomorrow (and the day after!) The servers were friendly and helpful. There's art on the walls that is interesting and modern, and the toilets are wonderful. Would very strongly recommend.

Amazing pub in the city centre and fantastic food! We have been served by Nell and she is super nice and gave us a 5 stars service. Nell has an incredible memory, we were a table of 6 and took our drinks and food order without wring it down. I don’t know how she did that but our order was 100%accurate and she managed to remember everything. Highly recommend!

Your staff were clearly busy as it was a Saturday night but the server who was dealing with our table was struggling to cope. She was very friendly and polite and doing her best though. The music in the upstairs area of the restaurant was unsuitable for the environment and far too loud. We had to shout to have a conversation. Food and drink were fine apart from far too much garlic in the linguini.
