Lagavulin visitor center
Lagavulin certainly has one of the cosiest visitor centres, as it is housed directly in the distillery without much conversion and you walk through the historic corridors. The welcome was very warm and I really enjoyed the warehouse tasting with Ian McArthur. Although it is the largest warehouse tasting on the island with around 40 people and you are not allowed to take your own bottling from the cask beyond the drams, it was still very entertaining. During the tasting, Lagavulin is very generous and also offers rare and expensive bottlings for tasting. As the tasting takes place at 10.30 in the morning, I found it inappropriate to drink six samples in a row at this time for several reasons. I highly recommend getting the drams as a driver's package. This gives the taste buds a chance to recover well. The pier behind the distillery is a particularly nice place to linger and enjoy the view of the bay. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to my friends at Lagavulin.
