The Rosedale Hotel and Restaurant
We stayed here for 2 nights in connection with a bus tour of the Isle of Skye in Aug 2023. The location in the picturesque harbor with a view from the room (floor 3) towards the colorful houses. Food and service in the restaurant very good, the premises a little worn but part of the charm.

Let me start this review by saying the rooms are immaculate. Very large like the size of suite. We stayed in the family room. Now for everything that’s wrong with this place. Don’t expect to park close to the hotel because the hotel doesn’t have parking and good luck finding it within the town. And if you do there is a giant hill you have to walk up and down from the hotel. Next no matter where you go in town you need reservations to eat. Including your own hotel!!!! Then a lot of restaurants close after 5 pm. So if you’re getting into town late good luck. If you do find one open it’s cash only or bar drinks only. We luckily found a pizza spot that had takeout. So to top this off you get back to this hotel with your food and there is a nice bar but no you’re not allowed to sit and eat your food in the bar and have a beer. You have to eat it in your room. Speaking of the room. There is no lift so you have to drag your luggage up at least 2 flights of steps and don’t think you’re getting a view of the water because these rooms don’t have a view.

We went here for dinner. I think from the outside it doesn't look very appealing but inside I really liked it, it's cosy.The view from the Restaurant is really nice, that's certainly something special in Portree.Food was fresh but still quite average and definitely expensive.The service was good, but not overly friendly.(I heard the waitress gossiping about other guests which from my POV is a no go")."

Restaurant review: this was the best food we got in town. We started with the scallops and bowl of chowder, both were amazing. Main course we ordered fish and chips, by far the best we found, also the venison burger was cooked great and had amazing flavor. Wish we would’ve just eaten every night here, ha!

My husband and I stayed at the hotel 2 nights. We did not eat dinner but had breakfast twice. If I were rating only the restaurant, I would give 5/5 stars since the breakfast was excellent, great service, and windows overlooking the water. However, the room we stayed in was pretty outdated for the price. The bathroom had a tub with a shower head where the cord was not long enough to stand and hold the shower head so you either had to bathe like you would in a jacuzzi or kneel so the cord could reach your head.

Good hotel with a nice breakfast service and a very beautiful view on the harbour, the only downside is that they don't have a reserved car park and you need to leave you car in the public parkings around the town which are not so far by the way

The Rosedale Hotel and Restaurant
This review is for the restaurant - absolutely superb. Best meal I had in Scotland. Service was prompt without being hurried. Their menu is variable based on season, but I had a salmon fillet on pumpkin puree with veggies and accoutrements and it was divine. Cocktails were fantastic and featured local spirits that our server recommended. We were seated at a window-side table and the view was unbeatable.
