Dr Kalyan Spine Specialist & Surgeon

I have been a patient of Mr Kalyan for many years, first as NHS overflow, then more recently self funding. He has carried out procedures such as facet joint injections, bundle branch block and rhyzolysis. All have been successful at the time, but due to a degenerative condition, my spine was always going to worsen. I was in excruciating pain when I returned to Mr Kalyan who carried out spinal decompression. After 2 months, it has been incredibly successful, I no longer take huge amounts of pain relief, and am pain free for the first time in eight years. He is the most wonderful surgeon I have ever encountered, he is kind, caring, compassionate, funny, and wears the smartest 3 piece suits and most fabulous shoes I've ever seen. He is very thorough, explains and gives you all available options, then listens and reassures. Mr Kalyan is the only surgeon that I trust to look after my spine, he is an amazing man with huge experience and skill, I can't thank him enough for fixing me.

After months of back pain, sciatica, and temporary paralysis which had been unsuccessfully treated elsewhere, Dr. Kalyan was fantastic. From the MRI he explained my spinal injury and the possible steps, and performed spinal injections soon after the initial consultation. Although I am a long way from fixed, Dr. Kalyan has taken away my pain so that I can continue Amatsu and other physical rehabilitation/strength exercises. I am very grateful for his continued help.

I was referred to Mr Kalyan with horrendous back pain, loss of feeling down my left leg, severe pain in my left leg that left me with only 50% strength/use of my leg.He arranged a MRI scan which took place within that week.He explained my results and showed me where my problem was and explained the available treatments.I was operated on by Mr Kalyan in November 2020 and can honestly say I have had no pain whatsoever from my leg since! And have full use of my leg again. I first went to see Mr. Kalyan in February this year and had a mri scan which showed spinal stenosis and a ruptured disc. I really tried without an operation but in June went back to see him and decided to have the operation, which was July 3rd. Mr Kalyan has been fantastic explained everything about my spine, I am so pleased I had the op as I am now getting my life back and find walking a lot easier. He is such a kind caring man with a very good sense of humour. Cannot recommend him enough.

After initially seeing another surgeon at Woodlands hospital who advised he could not help me due to a pre-existing medical condition, I was referred via my private health insurance to Mr Kalyan. I was suffering with severe back and nerve pain, along with sciatica caused by disc protrusion. I was really struggling to walk and had lost hope due to the previous spinal surgeon I had seen and the long NHS waiting lists that meant I was facing up to a years wait for treatment. My quality of life was severely impacted due to intense pain and mobility issues.From the moment I met Mr Kalyan he listened and questioned me in depth to understand more about my symptoms, pain and challenges completing normal daily tasks. For 18 months I suffered from horrendous sciatic nerve pain in my right buttock, leg and foot. After taking lots of different medication and visiting various health practitioners, I conducted some research and found Dr Kalyan!Within one week of seeing Dr Kalyan, and following a scan, Dr Kalyan diagnosed severe spinal stenosis - the following week I had lumber decompression surgery, discectomy and facetectomy.I am delighted to say that I am now 5 months post surgery and I am still pain free.What a WONDER this man is, from my initial consultation to wound checks, Dr Kalyan is with you every step of the way. Mr Kalyan treated my ruptured disc and subsequent nerve pain in May this year. I found his handouts and information very informative, both on the issue I had and also the treatment options. After suffering for 8 months I am now starting gentle exercise and getting some normality back. I would highly recommend his services.

Mr Kalyan treated me for my sciatica. It had stopped me partaking in my favourite hobby of countryside walking for nearly a year - it was too painful to walk even half a mile. 6 months later I am much improved. My pain is much less (at times nonexistent) and I can walk a couple of miles with no problems.
