Visited on a Friday evening after booking the day before for four people to celebrate my partners birthday. We're from out of area and received a warm greeting and had a nice corner table. Another couple were seated at a table alongside us and there wasn't quite enough room for one of them to sit down due to the layout of the tables.The service was really efficient. Orders for food and drink were taken at appropriate times and everything arrived promptly and well cooked.Drinks were ordered on one occasion, we thanked the girl for taking our order and the response was was 'Okay' as opposed to one of gratitude for the order. Maybe a minor thing but a little more attention to basic hospitality detail goes a long way in making guests feel appreciated. It is a busy venue and they do seem to have enough staff to attend to all diners.Food was of good quality and the menu is really very good. A large selection of items that you don't see on standard pub menus so excellent to be able to stray from normal pub fare.Ambience was that of a bustling restaurant. Although there was a lot of background noise from other diners, voices didn't need to be raised at our table in order to hold a conversation.

We visited the pub for dinner on a visit to Aylsham to see family. The food was amazing, portions are huge. The staff are all super friendly and service spot on. The pub was packed so to have such great food and service is a credit to the team. This was a Wednesday night so I would highly recommend booking before you go.

Stayed here as a birthday weekend had a nice cosy room in the hotel. We arrived and had lunch which was a great and prompt service. In the evening they had the Christmas light switch on and the pub was heaving but we still got great service having our evening meal. There are good portions served here and would recommend you save yourself for lunch/dinner.Staff are very friendly and would return again.

We love eating here. The food and the service are absolutely spot on. Even though it's a 70 mine round trip just for lunch it's so worth it. There is a reason why it's always busy.

Enjoyed a family meal for 10 people here Sep 23. Really nice country pub with good ales, great food and friendly prompt service. Sunday lunch was a great dish. Didn’t stay overnight so couldn’t comment on rooms, but all staff friendly and helpful. Very nice.

Excellent English pub with healthy portions, a delightful atmosphere, and outstanding service. Really a fun time. The ribs were absolutely enormous, and easily enough for two people. The venison was exceptional. Definitely not a bargain place, especially considering the USD to GBP exchange rate, but worth the investment.

Always guaranteed a great meal here. The food is always amazing and the staff are very friendly and clearly care about what they do. The waiter this time was even kind enough to swap the egg on my meal for a garlic bread loaf at no extra cost. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

Lovely place with friendly attentive staff. Foods was cooked to perfection and they catered for a number of changes to the order without a problem. Highly recommend and will be returning next time we are in Aylsham.

Popped in for a pub lunch and wasnt disappointed. Large portions , good quality produce cooked and served well, plus good friendly service. Also dog friendly. Honestly could not fault this place. On hols so sadly not a local to us which is a shame as i would be going back if I could!

Popped in on the off chance for Sunday lunch and were lucky enough to get a table. Roast dinners seemed quite expensive but were huge portions. The beef was beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious but some of the vegetables;especially the parsnip were very hard and undercooked. Inspite of this we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and we were so full we wouldn't have been able to finish all of the vegetables anyway. The staff were all very friendly and efficient and we will definitely visit again.
