Shop opened late waited 30 minutes till guy showed up dropped off bike told him I would collect Monday midday. Rang just to be sure he couldn’t find the bike couldn’t find my name in the end asked me if he was the right shop. This is a thousand pound bike he had just mislaid. Eventually agreed to pick up Tuesday arrived at 9 to collect when shop opened shop was closed at 9.30 asked unit next door if he is always late he rolled his eyes but did ring his mobile to be told he was on his way he finally arrived 10 mins later. No apology.

Originally unimpressed with bike selection at Halfords. Stopped by Homewood. Gavin is very knowledgeable. We ordered three bikes. Arranged for collection Saturday. All setup and ready to go.Thank you for helpful non-pushy sales.We will bring them back in the next couple of months for a service.

I brought one cheap child’s bike wheel in to have a puncture repaired. I assumed the inner tube had been damaged. I was told this could be done “while you wait” but as the shop was busy when I got there I said I’d go away for 30 minutes to allow for it to be done.When I returned 45 minutes later the job hadn’t been started - no apology given.On starting the job I was told the inner tube wasn’t broken. I explained the tyre went flat and I didn’t know what else to do.Eventually the valve was replaced. This was handed over and a price quoted which I was happy with. I was then told that the job had taken too long and he’d lost money on it. I didn’t understand this given I hadn’t haggled down the price - it’s down to a business to price fairly and actually I’d have paid more if asked in the fist place. I was then told the wheel I’d brought in was poor quality. Again, no arguments there, it was a cheap kids bike - all I was looking was for the puncture to be fixed.One day on and the tyre is flat as a pancake again. Guess I’ll have to take it elsewhere to get it looked at again.I witnessed other customers also being dismissed in an off-hand way when they wanted to buy expensive bikes.I guess it’s tough times but no-ones forcing you to do business and service like this - even when the customer gives you leeway - leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Took my old Ridgeback bike in for a service and Gavin, the manager, was very professional and did a fantastic job on my bike. He recommended new pedals and also fitted them (mine were broken) and the bike came back looking like new and for a very reasonable price. Definitely recommended.

My husband took his old/ancient Dutch bike to be repaired. The pedal back coaster brake and gears had broken during a tour of Sussex. Gavin took on the challenge and rebuilt a new back wheel around a two speed coaster hub. He had approached two other shops with no success. The repaired bike is running well. If you want specialist service visit Homewood cycles! Many thanks - it saved the bike from the scrapheap.

Bought my daughters bike, a go cart and a helmet there and Gavin was excellent. Helpful, knows his stuff and gave us a good deal too. Would definitely recommend.

Avoid.We bought my sons bike from Homewood 3 years ago and had a very positive experience. Now that he has grown and going to secondary school Homewood was our first choice, especially as we like to support local businesses where we can.What a mistake that was! Never going back.I don’t know what’s happened, if its new staff or the time of year, but we were received an exceedingly frosty reception.The sales person that spoke to us blocking a barley open door clearly had better things to do. He just wanted us to go away. I said we wanted to buy a bike. He nodded at a few second hand bikes outside.. “that’s all we have”. I asked what size my son would need “I dunno” he replied.At this point it was clear we were not welcome. I tried to tell the sales person of the fantastic service we had last time, he just shrugged his shoulders.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS 'BUSINESS'Would of given this place minus stars if I could! BROUGHT A BIKE FOR £350 'BRAND NEW' my partner has only had said bike for a couple of weeks and was coming back from work when it felt odd so took it into Halfords to have it checked and the frame is only worth 260 odd and the rest of the bike parts are from different types of bike. Partner got home understandably very angry as he'd spent alot on this. I called them and was greeted with a frosty reception by the man on the phone told him the issues to be told you must of brought it ages ago" and "he obviously has buckled the back wheel" so chose to blame us over taking any responsibility. He then said about bringing the bike down but he said I doubt I'll do anything! Disgusting service! Disgusting attitude! Zero customer service! Honestly don't know how he sleeps at night taking hard earned money off people and give faulty bikes!!!"

Brilliant service and very good value for money. The man is really friendly and flexible. We turned up just at last minute before he was due to close as I had just broken a spoke out on a ride and he gladly took the bike in and promised it would be fixed the next day and that I would be notified by text, which all happened. The price was very reasonable and the man even took off some old pedals off my bike, which I could not undo myself, so I could fit some new ones for which he did not charme anything. I shall go back there again whenever I need servicing on my bike, parts or buy anything I need for my bikes.

Went to ask about having a wheel made up and had to deal with a member of staff at the front of the shop who was blocking the door. Firstly he clearly did not know what we were talking about and so rather than getting the guy from the back, he was running backwards and forwards relaying messages yet from what we could see he was having a cup of tea/coffee so could have come and chatted to us for 2 minutes.It was clear our business wasn’t wanted and we were made to feel really uncomfortable, I was not even confident in the information that was provided and looking at these other reviews I would not feel happy to use this business.This is such a shame as this is the only local independent bike shop around here and my dad had always used them up until a few years ago and highly recommended them. Clearly something has changed.
