The reserve itself is lovely to walk round but I went in early June and there was a distinctive lack of birds even on the lakes.Birds I viewed were Sedge warbler,Stonechat,Mallard,Coot and quite a few Skylarks plus Goldfinch.

Fantastic spot for birding and a stroll. We were there on a bank holiday - it was quite as there were no jets taking off from the runway next to the wetlands.

A good spot to chill and for short walks and just under the flight path for RAF Valley too so plenty of aerial activity of all kinds !Free car park and well marked and signed paths with illustrated information boards .

I absolutely love this place but it completely drives me insane that selfish dog owners allow their dogs off lead through the areas where birds are starting to nest and will continue to nest. A nature reserve is not the type of place to walk a dog, it's pure laziness.

Visited after a dive trip to Ravenspoint Rd, Trearddur Bay, Holyhead. So an afternoon and a morning. Stayed over at Valley Hotel to make it a mini-break.Lovely, wild area. The Wetlands are quite far from access, so even a telephoto lens struggles. Saw quite a bit though. Found a lovely bridge off the beaten path and spent some time with the fish and Dragonflies.Usual sporadic dog poo and dogs off leads, but it's mostly devoid of trash and wasn't very busy.I'd make more walkways and maybe bridge the islands with a hide or two.Nice views of surrounding Wales and close, very to RAF Valley.Great place. Needs to be cherished.

Lovely place to walk the dogs, but can be confusing. You can't walk round the waters directly, you have to cross some fields & then come back along the roads. Unless frequent users know a secret route. Bit stoney at the start but turns to grass thankfully. Flight path close too if you like planes. Small car park available.
