The Adelphi
Nice old building but very average quality cask ale at extortionate prices! How can you charge £5.30 for a pint of beer that is priced at £2.30 at another quality town centre pub for exactly the same drink?CAMRA really needs to highlight pubs that obviously set out to fleece people!We all need to make a living but you need to take a good look at your pricing if you want repeat business.

Ideal place for a Christmas meal, especially for a group booking. The food is exceptionally well-prepared, the staff are efficient and very friendly and the prices are very reasonable.The Adelphi also caters for Vegetarian and Vegan diners as well as providing safety advice regarding allergies.For those who enjoy a bevvy, the Adelphi also offers a wide range of quality ales and drinks at competitive prices.I went for the Carnivore option, with a delightful soup starter, a truly delicious steak and chips and a very tasty apple and blackcurrant crumble with custard, from their Festive Menu.Recommended.

Had our wedding here a few weeks ago. Jack, Tom and the whole team at the Adelphi made the process so easy from the first enquiry to all the finer details on the day. They were super accommodating and made the day run so smoothly, all our guests loved the pub and the buffet they put on. They let me have free rein dressing the room and helping to pack it up for us so taking it all home the next day with a wedding hangover was a doddle! Can't wait to come back and have even more pints and memories in this pub. Highly recommended the function room for weddings/parties etc we had 80+ people with a dance floor, DJ and loads of seating so everyone was comfortable.

Lovely old pub, well worth a visit (or many…)! Good atmosphere. Went for Xmas work do. We were pretty early but our table was all ready for us and it was very relaxed. 3 course dinner was really delicious, everyone really enjoyed it (which doesn’t always happen with Xmas menu in my experience). Staff were friendly too. Pub also helps charity, customers can buy a meal for the homeless (no pushing of this, I noticed a card on the table). Had a great eve.

Brought a group of colleagues to the Adelphi for Christmas dinner. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel welcome by the manager Dan. The bar staff worked well under trying circumstances with good humour.Everybody in the party enjoyed their meals, top quality food at a fair price.Will definitely dine here again.

We came here for a Sunday roast. The atmosphere is great, amazing interior. Also the staff was nice and attentive to our needs. The food itself was nothing to rave about, rather bland. I'd come here again for a drink, but not necessarily for the food.

My mom and I visited back in January. It's a beautiful little pub with loads of different rooms. The atmosphere is lovely and unique. Full of character! The three small dishes we had we enjoyed. I liked the fact we could order to the table by the QR code on the menu. The drinks were a little pricey. Which is my only critique. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a gorgeous pub outside the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

Dave, Brad and Mikey looked after us and they were all amazing! Even though the delicious roast was sold out, they couldn’t have been more apologetic and let us order a sausage and mash (even though it was the Sunday menu thank you!) and the haddock and chips which both were unreal! We even spoke to Dan on the way out and he explained the history of the pub and we loved it. Overall a wonderful experience and we can’t thank you enough. We’ll be on time for one of these fantastic roasts one day soon!! 11/10 would 100% recommend. Amazing atmosphere, food, drinks and service! Thank you so so much

Haven't been here in years but it's still got a really nice vibe. Drinks reasonably priced and varied, good amount of seating. Staff were easygoing and helpful. Will definitely return.
