My four stars are probably a matter of preference but the staff are great. There was a mixup and we didn't get service quickly but it happens. I bet it doesn't happen when needed properly. It wasn't my choice to go here but my mum's. The chips, my daughter enjoyed very much. The drinks look delicious.

A warm and friendly welcome await you in this lovely bar. A bewildering choice of whiskies and gin will delight the connoisseur whilst the excellent food on offer will thrill your tastebuds.Highly recommended.

We visited this pub 2 days in a row. Unfortunately, they were out of quite a few ingredients as they were very business given the holidays. Outside of that, we had good experiences here.My mom and I shared the chicken sharer both times. The different types of chicken were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. My pop and sis loved the fish and chips. But they didn't quite enjoy the Philly Steak Toastie because the bread was too hard.My youngest sister loved both the dishes she tried. The crispy bacon on her bbq chicken was perfect. She liked the steak and ale pie the best though. The staff was courteous and attentive. The drinks were great compared to the watered down ones I've come to expect living in the States. Overall, we would eat here again just not so close to the holidays.

The place is photogenic and has very viby music their beer collection is really good, but the whisky isn't as better. People at the bar were so friendly and approachable attitude. Made me easy to choice the drink.Entirely my visit was good. Haven't tried the food yet. Next time will definitely turn up for food.

Wanted a chicken sandwich but that was out of stock. So I ordered the cheese sandwich, but I barely got any cheese. It was so dry. Very dissatisfied. The chef who cleaned up, asked how the food was, and after the reply we gave, he didn’t have anything to say and no apology or compensation was made. And possible the worst bathrooms I’ve witnessed. Both dirty, smelly and freezing. Also the staff sat 9. Dec at 12:00 seemed moody and that they didn’t want to be there.

Went tonight with my partner and had a lovely time. Food was great- had a steak and fish & chips (recently discovered it’s a UK pub classic!- it’s pretty different from Aussie pubs!). Prices pretty reasonable by UK standards. Bartenders James & Darren were lovely, had a great experience. Would go again if we were in Edinburgh for longer than a night!

A nice pub! Nothing special or fancy, as expected, but just a nice pub. The door opens and you're greeted by a smell that's a mixture of fish and beer. You have to order through qr code or at the bar. The drinks and food come quite quick. I ordered the half chicken and though it doesn't look appealing, it was really soft and tender, definitely enjoyed it a lot! Can recommend for some easy pub food

Lovely tradition pub in the heart of the Edinburgh. Great selection of beer and whiskey on our way to the whiskey tour.We had a mix of the share pub plates and it was what we needed. The service from Libby was great and very welcoming which makes the whole experience delightful for those travelling from London.
