Very welcoming .

Apparently you have to be a member to drink here, would be helpful if there was a sign to make this clear then would not have to be made to feel unwelcome.

I'm unsure how to feel about this establishment. I arrived to this establishment recently with a friend. I had a pint, met some kind, interesting people and had a decent time. I was genuinely looking forward to returning. It had great music playing on the Juke box, friendly people who would speak to you about anything and everything, and an all round positive vibe. However, upon returning with a couple more friends who I felt would enjoy the atmosphere the place offered, I was kicked out by a punter as it is 'members only.' I spoke to the owner, who seems to be a genuinely decent man, about the situation. He said it was members only, and to try again in a couple of months. It's a true shame, as it seems to be a great place, ran by some nice people.Part of me wishes to get a membership, however the rudness of the punter has truly put me off ever returning. She said that 'it is members only, and you're far too young to be here.' It was highly insulting for her to assume me and my friends ages, especially considering all of us are over age. The way she spoke was very condescending, and made my fiancé feel extremely uncomfortable.I personally shall not be returning, due to a discomfort I know I would feel, knowing id truly never be welcome, and the eyes stabbing into you if you so much as raise your pinky finger, I would recommend the place.If you are able to get a membership somehow, and manage to break the ice to the punters and get to know them, I could see most people enjoying it. Great music, a beautiful bar, and what seems to me a wonderful community of people who genuinely enjoy eachothers company, it looks to be a rather promising local for many.

Called a bar, looks like a bar, has a sign saying it's open, everything to make you think it's an open bar. It's not. A simple sign saying members only on the door or window would suffice and make entering only to be told we couldn't be served a thing of the past. Quite a hostile atmosphere.

Good private bar, prices are reasonable, owner and his partner are welcomeing, real ale choose is limited, but very well kept. Had a pint of Friget 42.
