James restored a canvas painting that I had inherited and then damaged by making a tear!I am so chuffed with the end result. He had the painting for a few months and the work that he has done is amazing.The painting looks like it might have done when my grandparents first brought it so many years ago.FANTASTICHighly recommend- can’t see the damage- amazingThank you for making my day.

My wife had inherited a picture done in pastels of one of her ancestors date 1854. After 170 year the frame was in need of tlc and repair.The moulding on the frame had become chipped and knocked over the years. We took the picture to Becksitch. James explained what would be done to restore the frame and how long it would take. Its not something that can be rushed. The results where worth waiting for. James wove his magic and the frame is now restored, not to look as new, but as agreed very sympathetically, in keeping with its age. Also the original glass was cleaned before being put back in the frame and new acid-free backing paper and mount added to protect the fragile paper of the picture from further deterioration due to the chemicals in the wood of the frame.James also provided a set of photos of the work in progress.Thanks to a professional service we now have a picture hung in pride of place that draws complements on its artistic merit as an early pastel. It should be good for another 150 years.

Happened upon this place by accident, and so happy I did. James is such a knowledgeable and friendly chap, willing to help and advise wherever and whenever. I had 6 items in total, including a fairly rough (surface) oil painting. James' professional manner was apparent from the off, and the finished items were excellent. I will be visiting whenever I can to have future work handled by this consummate pro. Well worth what I paid and just overjoyed that I have such a fantastic business on my doorstep.

I was looking for an art restoration expert to bring my mother’s beloved mixed media oil painting back to life and I was advised that I would probably need to go to London for such a service. As the painting is enormous and I am East Midlands based, I looked around and discovered Becksitch, based in Belper.James has done a wonderful job and is incredibly knowledgeable about art restoration. He was able to explain the original artist’s methods and skills and advised on the steps necessary for a full restoration, including reinforcing the fragile backing, cleaning and retouching the paintwork, replacement of missing pieces and reframing. It was a huge job, but complete in just a few weeks and delivered to our home, where James helped to hang it and advised on how best to display it.The result is absolutely stunning and I am so pleased we went to James. The painting looks how it did in my childhood and the colours are vibrant, once more.A wonderful find!
