Great old church (can you find the tomb entrance)

OMG! The Westminster Abbey of Devon! What a beautiful hidden gem. This is a national treasure with its design, history, and all the fabulous monuments.

I got married at St Peter's in September 2023. It is such a beautiful venue for a wedding and the service was amazing. Rev. Gary Owen and the Tawstock community were so welcoming to us during our visits in the lead up to the Wedding and Rev. Cathy Gardiner delivered such a beautiful service. Plus, we were able to bring the dog who had a lovely time! We would recommend it as a wedding venue to anyone, particularly if they are having their reception at Tawstock Court! Thank you all at St Peter's for a memorable day.

St Peter is an Exquisite Church, filled with treasures. I spent over half an hour exploring and taking in the memorials and little details, including the wonderful 12c faces on the columns ( each one different). There are also numerous ancient tombstones paving the floor of the lady Chapel, medieval tiles, not to mention the incredible Elizabeth memorials. Stained glass very beautiful in the morning light. The reredos is superb. The flowers inside the church were delightful too. I shall revisit. Please look for the bare chested angel playing a trumpet on one of the gravestones ( from the 1700s). She has fingernails! I said hello to her as I'd found her last time we visited and been enchanted. 5 star Church with a warm welcome and also in a delightful setting. The views are wonderful. Highly recommended.
