Optical Express Laser Eye Surgery, Cataract Surgery, & Opticians: Ipswich

Really happy with my Lasik results, and the aftercare from Suckbir and the team has been very thorough

Not me, my wife, had a fairly large correction 6 weeks ago. Neither long or short vision 100% but all part and parcel of the level of correction she's had, we're told; and so with time & healing it may improve if not a further correction will be done. Not ideal but is what it is.After her surgery she was to see an optometrist weekly which is where the real commitment came in. From Ipswich we've so far been to Norwich twice, Chelmsford twice and now Dartford as each time she's been reviewed it seems standard practice to be referred to a surgeon. When a surgeon reviews her no action is taken, and the surgeon is unsure why she is being referred. Yes there is the option for intervention but its positioned against the fact her eyes could correct themselves in time.And so we go on with expense to our free time and fuel costs bouncing between optometrist appointment and apparent unnecessary appointments with surgeons. I've no doubt her eyes will be fine in time and she will be looked after but OptExp doesn't feel like private healthcare. Literal hours pass between your appointment slot and when your are seen. Also the variance between the offices-come-medical-centres is interesting. Chelmsford fairly lively, and at least there's the radio and a water cooler. Am currently in Dartford, have been for 2 hours listening to what can only be described as a 20 min PR campaign on loop with endless people prattling on about how happy they are with their life changing surgery. I also learnt what forms a cataract, multiple times. TVs on the wall, not switched on. No water cooler. Thirsty. Can't comment on Norwich, they wouldn't let me in: patients only.The most important outcome is my wife's eye health and it would be unfair to expect OptExp to predict how it's turned out and we are confident it will be fine. But there are things they can control, they could see people on time, they could recognise they are habitually behind on appointments and make the waiting environments more comfortable. They could let patients see the same clinical staff each time. Just like the advert. That's been on repeat. For the last 2 hours.I apologise for the lengthy review, I have time to kill presently.Edit: appointment took place. Wife cried as was told she didn't need to be here. Hasn't seen a surgeon just an optometrist followed by a senior optometrist, who is surprised a referral had been made. I am surprised at their surprise, as it seems endemic.

Had my Laser and Lens Surgery 4 weeks ago.. life changing. The guys at Optical Express have been fantastic and Dr. Mani, what can i say the guy is amazing as a human being and a Surgeon. Thanks to the team.

I was assessed for laser eye surgery. I ordered and received a very brief clinical discussion by telephone the next day. A brief call is not adequate to discuss all the risks. They push this because they have a 3 day cancellation period after a clinical discussion but ultimately they decide on the day whether you can proceed with the surgery when you actually see your surgeon. Before my surgery and after very brief three day cancellation window Optical Express requested that I go for an assessment at a different location as the original location did not have the machinery. This caused me concern and to review the risks, which not been adequately communicated in the 5 minute clinical discussion by phone. I decided to cancel due to these shady practices. Optical Express have refused to offer a refund. Do not use this business, they use pressure tactics (such as refusing refunds) to pressure people into surgery for which they have not been adequately assessed.

Very pleased to give a 5 star review as the service was excellent from the first consultation to the surgery and aftercare. Every staff member was knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. Thank you to all concerned.

I always feel very welcomed and comfortable when I come here for my appointments, they are always on time. Easy to get an appointment and the care I have had so far has been brilliant. Defiantly recommend this place.

Absolutely over the moon after having multiphocal lense replacement surgery with Optical Exspress. The procedure was pain free and literally life changing for me. I can't exspress how grateful I am to my surgeon Professor Jan Ventor and all his staff in particular William the Refractive Optometrist and Weronika the Clinic Manager. Pre-surgery tests were arranged well, staff at the Ipswich branch are so helpful and communicate very well! Happy to help with any queries. Very good team there, also for my aftercare appointments and also no bother when rescheduling my appointments around me!
