Picked up car in Heathrow. Had bad scraping to paintwork on both sides and multiple paint chips to bonnet and rear bumper. Had so much damage it didn’t all fit in box on hire form - needed some panel beating and a respray. Would have refused it if I hadn’t just been travelling for 40 hours. Wish I had.Returned it to Gatwick. Showed photos taken at time of hire on return and was assured I won’t be charged.Europcar then send a letter by post from the Netherlands that takes 6 weeks to arrive, despite having my email, claiming for damage. I send time-stamped and geo-located photos from pick up showing damage is pre-existing. They invoice me GBP582 regardless.Would never use them again. Shame as previous experiences have been fine. Maybe changed owners or times are hard ?

Car hire went fine and collection, except parcel shelf didn’t go up and down with the boot. No big deal and I told them. Used car for two weeks just little journeys with my elderly parents. Returned the car, reminded man about parcel shelf all good, left for homeward bound flight. Six weeks after returning the hire car and £712 is taken from my account! Why? No contact from them yet they just take the money with card details given to a third party carjet, are they legally allowed to do that and why? So not happy with them and it’s just before Christmas too!

Collection point in London Gatwick is NOT where you need to go first.This is not communicated properly but you first have to find their office to check in and then go to Collection point.Vehicle I received was not cleaned from previous rental and was covered in bug remains and stains all over.When I asked for it to be cleaned they said it'll not be any cleaner and just wiped the windscreen with dry paper towels.Return instructions were not clear and I had to call service center for them to confirm that I have to use a return key box as there'll be no one in office on Sunday.

Be careful about the additional charges added without any explanation: double insurance, road services, and full tank. The agent did not mention anything expect for full tank, and claimed it is already paid for (which is not true). I rejected it, but the line still appeared in the contract. The charge claim for 370 pounds appeared few days after I returned the car (they did not ask at place to pay for anything). Customer service is not helping. I see a similar commend a week earlier, and it looks like a scheme. It is a pity, as I rented from them many times before, and the service was always professional.

Excellent rental process and the staff are very friendly and efficient. Offer of a really good upgrade to a Mercedes EQE gratefully accepted, and this is the second time this year I've had a nice EV upgrade option with Europcar (the other time was in Nice). Return was efficient and complete in minutes, even though Gatwick Airport rental return is horribly cramped (but that's not a Europcar-specific issue, it's the same for everyone).

Let’s take this from the start.Booking went great! Fast and easy, but then the problem begins.The waiting queues was horrible. The screen that tells you where you are I queue was broken, and the attitude of the people behind the desks were horrible. Their attitude changes when you don’t want to accept their recommendations about getting a higher insurance or a better quality car for 10 pounds more a day.He even looked at my luggage and said I would not get these 2 suitcases in the car, something we did with so much success that we were able to fit an extra travel bag (a large one) in it on our return!The car was absolutely bad! The car felt old (the interior was dirty and worn out), it even had triple the amount of damages on the vehicle that were reported on the papers I got at the front desk.Luckily I found James at the return point, as there were no one else around, and he went over the car with me and wrote down all the new claims.The car didn’t even have a radio since the antenna was snapped off. I had to use my own phone for music on the road since the radio cut off all the time and was giving old static (I felt like I was watching a to show from the 60’s)The car was dirty, had broken parts, I have photos to prof.When I returned the car I was expecting to get hit with a giant fine for the hidden damages on the car. But luckily I was able to provide the papers that James filled outThe whole process with European feels like a joke and I would not recommend you to friends and family as I found that the price I paid for this service/car was a joke!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARN!!!! AVOID EUROPCAR!!!!1. They are very aggressive push you for an upgrade which is 2X of the amount you suppose to pay. This causing a long time collecting the car the person keep go in and out to look for the car type you book. In the end when no choice, they say give you free upgrade and ask you to give 5 star. (I though I am lucky BUT I am wrong) They going to fake a damage and claim from you.when collecting the car and I check the damage listed in the agreement and I was inform by the person station at there. Those damage length is shorter than the length requirement will not report in the agreement as picture show below.To my surprise after 10 days returning the car, I got a email about a damage to the wheel scuff. You know 10 days can happen alot of things. After another 13 days, I receive a damage report invoice. To my surprise again, the wheel scuffs which each is shorter than 2cm and is lump as a whole scuff to make it longer than 2cm to charge.How do they know the multiple scuffs is all cause by me? I may cause only of it and other cause by previous customer or even all is cause by previous few customer.THIS IS THE WAY THEY WORK IF THEY CANT EARN FROM YOU FROM THE UPGRADE. AVOID EUROPCAR AT ALL CAUSE!!!!Update 12/12/2023:After receive a reply from the the review and proceed to the link provide to get help investigate further after more than a week ago. I received email ask for payment and to make within 14 days. So the link provided to get help investigate is also useless.Still the same AVOID EUROPCAR AT ALL COST!!!

I booked various times already and had not a single incident that was not to my satisfaction.Pickup and return was always really quick with friendly staff (thanks for the pleasant conversation last time Tim) and no annoying pressure to upgrade or get the insurance.Cars are typically really good and in good condition.

RESPONSE TO EUROPCAR comment:I wonder if my comment was understood, as your response could have been more helpful. You advised me to contact Experia, but I am surprised as I paid to Europcar's bank account and dealt with your salesperson. I need help understanding how this is Experia's responsibility.ORIGINAL POSTI booked the vehicle with insurance and paid for it online through Expedia. All is good with this process.When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, the salesperson offered me a better option for an additional 25 GBP. At first, I declined the offer, but the person insisted so much that I ended up agreeing.He then charged me 535.60 GBP, which I assumed was for the holding deposit plus the 25 GBP.When he gave me the invoice, I realized the excess amount was the difference between my initial vehicle and the new one (which supposedly cost only 25 GBP). When I asked him to explain the math, he said it's 25 GBP per day, plus taxes and new insurance - apparently, the insurance I paid did not cover the new vehicle! So I asked him how is this just" more than 25 GBP than the initial agreement. I made him cancel the deal and get back to the initial one. I returned the vehicle on December 9th
