My gran went in there 5 years ago she broke her hip whilst living at home in her own as she was fully mobile and happy the rest of her family lived in Hertfordshire and once she had her operation she was up and walking 2 weeks later she was amazing. But we knew she needed to be cared for now as ye was 98 years old. We chose this place because it wasn’t clinical and cold it was warm and homely whilst still caring. Years went by and she was happy there she would stay up late with the careers eat biscuits and drinking tea as she didn’t sleep till late and they were always very good with her when she had an infection but also at listening to her family’s wishes. Due to old age and finally a chest infection she couldn’t budge they through out her last weeks washed her, fed her, never let her stay uncomfortable if she had an accident. Sat with her at night towards the end if we where not there. There’s a lady there with pink hair that put aromatherapy and lights on for her and did activities with my gran when she could (or at least tried to get her to do them my gran was a sleepy one) and other staff that made us comfy, and let us stay at the home so we could be around her in her last couple of days. If it wasn’t for them she wouldn’t of passed away with us by her side and we wouldn’t of been able to feel Like we did are best by her. If it wasn’t for the vigilance of one staff member that grabbed us from our room at the right time then we would of been so upset. They looked after us aswell as our gran, and as a whole team they work well. 5 years they honoured my gran, and made sure even after death she had dignity. Thankyou the staff that where new in my grans life, and the old ones that where there for many years. They are striving to make sure good staff are there and making improvements on the building, bit by bit and I have noticed good changes in professionalism and care over the last couple of years. Thankyou for looking after her when we couldn’t, and for enabling me and my mum to be with her when it mattered.
