The Dipping Lugger
We spent two nights at the Dipping Lugger in June. The hotel was quaint with only 3 rooms and professionally managed. The highlights were the dinners which were the best we had in Scotland. We would recommend visiting the Dipping Lugger for a meal or staying at least one night. Our room, Maginnes, had the best view in our opinion. Parking within the hotel was also very convenient and it was a great location to walk around Ullapool.Thank you Robert for the hospitality. We will always remember our stay there!

A small but perfectly formed experience. Our room was super comfortable with all the creature comforts, the sweet shop was a joy and the food was outstanding.Robert and the team have created something quite special so heartily recommend you enjoy it as we did.

The Dipping Lugger
My partner and two kids had an excellent dinner at The Dipping Lugger, by far the most innovative and interesting meal we had during our two week trip to this part of Scotland. The fixed tasting menu offered a wonderful selection from the land and the sea e.g. scallops and venison (pictured) with well judged wine pairing (we also had the very good non-alcoholic pairing). I was grateful to be served a gluten-free meal, including some wonderful fennel and pumpkin bread. Service was a pleasure and the ambiance was lovely.

Wonderful taster menu and wine pairing experience at this small restaurant in Ullapool. We were not staying at the hotel so can't comment on the rooms.Food showcased local seasonal produce, such as scallops and venison. On the night we visited it felt a little like they were understaffed, service was still very friendly, but for the price point would have expected just a little bit more. That said have still given 5-stars as the restaurant and owners have brought a wonderful little eatery to this more remote part of the highlands.

A hidden gem!On our trip through Scotland we stayed in several good hotels, but this is wonderful! The rooms are impeccable, the dinners and breakfasts are the best of the trip! Unforgettable. The selection and pairing of wines was a great and good surprise. This is a gem that will surely be very famous very soon. Exquisite 6 course meal at this quaint restaurant. The scallop, Easter, halibut, tomatoes, lamb, and small pastry were fantastic. All were cooked to perfection. This restaurant should have a M star in my opinion. Beautiful view of the loch too.

Such a beautiful meal tonight. An explosion of flavours artistically presented with each course preparing and exciting your palate for the next selection on the menu. A night to be remembered and a night definitely to be repeated. Thanks to all of the staff.

The Dipping Lugger
Visited the area for our honeymoon this year, and easily found yet another gem of Scotland. The restaurant was fantastic, had super friendly staff who talked through each meal along with the wine pairing for the course.Had some of the biggest and freshest scallops.Couldn't recommend the place any more to anyone, and would advise people to detour to the area just to visit.

We enjoyed dinner in this lovely restaurant in the heart of Ullapool. The historic building has been converted into a dining area in the basement and hotel rooms in the upper floor. We liked the interior design a lot - elegant, comfortable, and certainly not stiff at all.The restaurant offers a set dinner menu of eight courses that was modified to pescatarian for me upon prior notice (only one course deviated - deer for the meat eaters, lentils and mushrooms for me). Both a wine pairing and a non-alcoholic drink pairing are offered, the former for £60, the latter for £40. Unlike in other restaurants the non-alcoholic pairing mainly consisted of alcohol-free wines, but also a gin&tonic variation and a lemonade were offered.Food was excellent - mainly sourced locally, but with creative flavor-pairings using ie miso paste or yuzu. Portion sizes were just perfect, as was the timing. Eight courses were served in about three hours, which gave us enough time to enjoy while not keeping us in our chairs for too long.Service was amazing, too - friendly, attentive, but never intrusive. This made the atmosphere very relaxed despite the fine dining experience.Clearly a 10/10 for us!
