An elegant house with amazing afternoon tea. The treatments at the spa were wonderful and relaxing. Sadly the decor in the spa itself is a little tired. The internal windows were very dirty and the arm on my sun lounger fell off.

PLEASE PLEASE read - do not use massage services. I don’t think I have ever written a google review but I don’t want anyone to experience what I have. In May 2023, I signed up for a 60 minute massage from a young female masseuse.During the massage, the masseuse spent several minutes pressing on my cervical spine which I now understand should be avoided - with extreme force (full body weight force). While in the massage I was thinking what is she doing when is this going to end but decided not to say anything. At that time I expressed disappointment that the 60 minute massage that I timed ended 12-15 minutes short. Now, I’m very happy it did end short otherwise she may have caused more damage - but ever since the massage beginning a day after the massage …I have had severe stiffness and neck pain (never had neck pain ever in my life I’m 35). It has been going on for months and progressed to weakness in my arm and numbness in my finger. MRI - herniated disc likely due to trauma In That area that has pinched nerve. I have never experienced any pain like this and am still trying to solve the issue.PLEASE AVOID the massages at all costs! I don’t want anyone to deal with what I have to due to inexperience of the staff - as seen in other parts of the hotel as well. Stay away.

Very tranquil country house hotel. We stayed Thursday to Saturday in July and there were very few guests. So nice and quiet, relaxing in large, palatial drawing rooms. Excellent dinner, 3 courses for £79 pp, and breakfast is very good. Lovely walks around the grounds. We stayed in room 20 in the roof. Near a clunky lift but as the hotel was not busy, it wasn't used late at night so we didn't get woken up.

Fantastic evening celebrating 2 birthdays. Beautiful location and a stunning meal. Crab and lobster raviolo followed by sublime saddle of rabbit. The sommelier was excellent and suggested a knock out bottle of wine. Can’t wait to come back.

I only had the pleasure of staying one night here but it was genuinely amazing. The service of the staff here is absolutely impeccable. They are so friendly and go out of their way to help you.The rooms are spacious, comfortable and surprisingly have AC which was a god send. The food is delicious and there is a great wine list too.All in all it’s a fantastic hotel. The spa is lovely too and has a great clubhouse to relax in.

Excellent slightly bumbling old-school British establishment, and all the better for it. Anywhere that offers you wellies for your walk in the grounds can't be far off the right thing. Only minor complaint is that children were in the pool outside their allocated time. Just acting as children bombing into the water, but not the vibe we were looking for (more leisure centre, less sanctuary spa).
