Everything went well. For 10 pounds a day you can lower the excess to zero. Car was pretty new. 20p every extra mile.We got the car for one day, we were taking the ferry in the afternoon. The woman never mentioned the cars can be returned directly at the ferry parking lot, so we walked from the office, when we could have avoid that.

Very helpful when trying to arrange a booking for a Sunday at late notice. Would recommend. Nice wee Skoda took us everywhere..

The gentleman at the Sumburgh Airport was welcoming, pleasant and helpful.All went well until I reported some very minor damage, a 10-20 cm scratch and a very small depression in the plastic bumper bar, to the woman in the Lerwick office. After photographing it I asked her if she would be claiming on the companies insurance. She asked why I asked, so I explained. She then became intolerant of me, talked over me, was rude and in short I was ignored and bullied. She may have an office skill set though lacks comummication skills and a customer service mind set. Overall my experience was marred by this one person.

Very friendly and easy process to rent. Cars are a little older than your usual rental cars but come in all sizes to suit your needs. Fully recommend.

I always use Star Rent A Car when I visit Shetland, which is generally twice a year. I find the service first class and know I'll be well looked after.Cars are always clean and comfortable and the staff are very obliging.

A terrible experince! We hired a car, whicht broke down after a couple of hours, and after being taken back to the office, we met a very unkindly female manager, who accused us for breaking the car, and we neather got a new car or the money we had paid for 5 days back. Instead we were thown out of the office!!We were so happy that we had a nice car rented by Bolts car,whitch we returned after 4 days without any troubles at all!

We had a very bad experience with Star Rent A Car.First, when we arrived with the ferry the lady at the counter insisted on getting a signature on a document showing the which dents and scratches the car already has - my wish to see the car first to get an own impression, was denied. Nothing has been explained to us - no instructions on where to drop off the car or if we have to refill the tank.Second, the lady made us drive her back to the companies office even though, we told her multiple times that we had to go in the opposite direction.Third, while the car looked ok first, then license plate just fall off somewhere in the road because it was just poorly tapped to the car. We found it back though.Forth, when we came in next morning to get it fixed we were threaten very ruddy. When asking for a compensation for our troubles the manager seriously argued that the offer was already cheap so she wouldn't offer any compensation and accused us to have pulled of the plate our self. Finally, she put 2 pound on the counter in rage and told us that's what we deserve as a compensation. Sounds almost surreal, but that's actually what happened.

Although our flight was turned back by bad weather, and the plane eventually landed several hours late, the staff member at the Star Rent a Car could not have been more helpful, more courteous or more patient. She gave useful advice on itinerary and return. Even so long after closing hours on a Sunday evening, this sincere and friendly encounter set the tone for a wonderful holiday in the lovely Shetland Islands.

Had a dilemma got to airport no car had been booked although had a confirmation email but luckily it was sorted however we had to travel to lerwick by bus to pick up our hire car
