I have no idea why this place scores so well.Turned up on my bike, and great roads around it. But asked, once someone decided to come through and serve those waiting, for just a cheese barm, and it seemed beyond the person how to do this or what to charge!Asked for a pint of lime and soda and they came back with a glass, so corrected them. In the end just a pint of lime and soda and a packet of crisps, and £3.70. I didn't comment on this price, as just wanted to get out of the place and the terrible staff.Don't know what they were on, but whatever it is, I'll have two of it, but not when working!!I have just read the owners reply.I would not normally continue a discussion, but I want to point out that I do give 5 star reviews the majority of times, and like to think I am fair, and give an indication of the quality of food, service, and value, and hence warn people of establishments that do not meet the standards you would expect.The speed of response (2 weeks) perhaps serve to underline my original comment about speed of service and, because of the delay, they were unable to identify the facts behind the reason for my displeasure.There were not a load of bikers that had suddenly appeared, in fact it was quiet.Also, perhaps their thought the reference was to drugs also suggests their train of thought. A zen yoga session is equally plausible to put someone in a calm, non rushed mood.However, I do agree, this place is definitely not for me as I do enjoy establishments that offer good food, good service, at a fair price.Still one star I'm afraid, and perhaps one less for an owner that doesn't take criticism well.

A great pub, beautiful, unique building with a tiny old school, meaning REALLY old school dinky little bar. Consistently lovely staff, loads of outdoor seating, or, if you want to pretend you're in The Green Dragon in Hobbiton you can drink indoors, enjoying a real fire in the wintertime. There's an outdoor bar and often barbecued food in Summer, fancy pants posh car night on Mondays or better still around two zillion motorbikes on a good Wednesday evening.What's not to like?

Great historic pub. No food, but breakfasts being introduced.Nice athosphere. Good beer.Big, attactive outdoor area. In summer, classic car shows, and bike nights on a Wednesday, all year round.

Me and my wife recently had our wedding vow renewal at the Piper, and it was absolutely incredible.Mike and Caroline bent over backwards to accommodate us and make our day as special as possible. We cannot thank them enough.Me and my wife live in New Zealand, but I grew up just near the pub so it's a very special place for me. We felt honoured to have our special day there. It's the most unique, historic, friendly, atmospheric and special little pub you could hope to visit.

Brilliant little pub has plenty on for adults and children. Biker night on a Wednesday and classic car night on a Monday. Both of wich always turn out a decent crowd.

Lovely place. We loved it. It's so cozy and antique. Inside its beautiful vintage, with fireplace, the girls working there are super friendly and the area is great. Definitely be back, we were very pleased with the place, especially on a cold day. We had a cup of tea, some snacks and a nice time.

A beautiful venue to have an intimate gathering of friends & family, celebrating love of our beautiful mates. Cannot say anything better about service of the staff and the owner, they were lovely and so kind. Drinks were also delicious!

Scotch Piper Inn
Lovely old pub, with great beer and we certainly enjoyed the fire in the back room too today.Toilets outside were chilly on the bum, but otherwise a very warm welcome to be had.Recommended.
