The Railway Ramblers Rest
Another fabulous stay at the Ramblers' Rest. This time with the added bonus of an amazing hot tub. It was heavenly sat in the bubbles underneath the stars! After a very good nights sleep we took advantage of the links with local businesses for a delicious breakfast. Without doubt, we'll be back soon. A Two Blondes Walking, Christmas tradition has begun.

Would highly recommend Ramblers Rest to anyone looking for a restful night in mid to high end accommodation in Princetown. I stayed here with two others in a three -person bedroom, and we had a fantastic stay. Nikki and Terry have thoughtfully designed accommodation that catered to all of our needs. The hot tub is a great addition to a lovely spa area which will be even better when the changing rooms are in place. Terry made us feel very welcome and was a fantastic host.

The Railway Ramblers Rest
Our only gripe with the Ramblers Rest is that we only booked one night! We had an absolutely perfect stay and the owners Nikki & Terry were so accommodating, with us adding an extra person leading up to our booking, and welcoming upon check-in. An ideal spot with easy access to Dartmoor, Plymouth and lovely village cafés for a full English breakfast! The room was perfect, extremely clean and homely, comfy beds, quiet and airy, with a kitchenette, dining table and bathroom with everything we needed. Instructions were extremely clear and easy parking available. Although we didn't have time this trip, we are keen to return to try out their new spa and hot tub area which Terry was kind enough to show us! And the ice cream kiosk also run by them was wonderful too. Thank you Terry for the great advice for local walks as well. We'll definitely be coming back!

The Railway Ramblers Rest
We stayed at The Railway Rambler's Rest for two nights and seriously considered changing the remainder of our itinerary to stay longer! Unbeatable location with direct access to the moors, incredibly friendly hosts and super clean and thoughtful facilities. I would highly recommend to anyone considering an excursion to Dartmoor.

Highly recommend for customer service, convenience, options for a variety of budgets, and THE HOT TUB!!!We booked for an October holiday on the moors. Nikki was great with communications when I sent a list of questions about what we might need to bring for our stay in the teeny caravan. When we arrived, we found out that they normally block out October for the caravan, but we’d booked the holiday back in July before they’d had a chance to block out the dates. Instead of cancelling with us, Nikki and Terry went above and beyond to honour our booking, ensuring we had electric hookups, a heated fan, and a big fluffy duvet. Despite the infamous Dartmoor weather, our stay was cosy and warm. The caravan is quite private and peaceful, with amazing views of the stars at night. All the amenities at the main building were nice (indoor toilets, shower and changing room and a sheltered outdoor kitchen with hobs, pizza oven, fridge, sink, etc). And the spa!!! Omigosh! The whole booking was worth it just for that! We spent two of the three nights drinking prosecco in the spa. Cannot talk this up enough! The hot tub is huge and deep with incredible sky views. It was so peaceful. We had fun playing with the lights and fountain settings, too! While we were in there, Nikki and Terry checked on us a few times to make sure we were enjoying our stay. They are really attentive hosts and really personable. We had a wonderful chat with Nikki at one point. It was great to get to know her better. The place is located right next to a public footpath that leads into the moors, so it was perfect for our walking/foraging holiday. It is also central to town, making it easy to hit up the Prince of Wales pub for dinner (the pies are incredible!) and breakfasts at the Old Police Café. Both were great and deserve reviews of their own but are worth mentioning in this review because guests of the Ramblers Rest receive discounts at these establishments, as well as a few other shops and restaurants/cafes (including the renowned Two Bridges Hotel, down the road) with their bookings cards. If you are avid campers, the teeny caravan is the place for you! If you like something a bit finer, maybe consider staying in one of the rooms they offer. When booking the caravan, it is as described – teeny. It is also more of a glamping than hotel experience. We felt it was great value (especially with the spa! What a stellar addition! You don’t get that a Premier Inn!) but were told some guests have been surprised by the size and slightly more rustic nature of the caravan, despite it being very clearly described on the website. The bed takes up most of the space in it, though when the weather is dry, there is outdoor seating with a chimnea as well as woodstove. Be aware that in the teeny caravan, storage is limited, so it is worth packing savvy for the small space.Terry has said he has plans to improve the caravan, so we’ll be excited to see what happens with it. In the meantime, we’re already thinking about another stay, mid-winter in one of the very smart looking rooms, as the caravan is now blocked out for the colder season. Many thanks to Nikki and Terry for an excellent holiday!

This is highly recommended. the owner Nikki and Terry were friendly, nice and helpful. the hotel is nice quiet and very clean, the SPA was amazing, which we like the most. it was -3 snowy so cold but worth it. that was really good though. close to the pub and easy access to anywhere. we would definitely come again. The Railway Ramblers Rest
I recently stayed at the Ramblers’ Rest with my daughter. The location is fantastic, being at the end of a footpath leading directly to the open moor and in the centre of Princetown. The accommodation was spacious and there were nice touches like the honesty shop.Princetown has a number of pubs and cafes, all within a short walk, as well as a well stocked convenience store. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal in the Prince of Wales.Nikki and Terry were great hosts and we really enjoyed our stay.
