What staff there was were very pleasant and did their best but the place is vastly understaffed for such a busy venue. The choice on offer at the carvery was not as good as other carveries I have been to recently, in particular The Toby at Chaddesden. If I were asked by a friend to recommend a carvery, it would have to be them, although they are a lot busier!!In particular, there was not table service, the choice of veg was not great and the guy behind the counter kept disappearing into the kitchen to fetch bits and pieces and the choice of gravy and sauces was not good. What food we did have was good. A shame as it's a nice venue.

It felt disorganised, waiting to be seated despite it not being busy. Stood waiting 10 minutes at the carvery to be served. Another customer asked bar staff to send a server over as he could see nobody was coming. The food was mediocre. Lighting where we sat wasn’t very bright so couldn’t see to eat properly. The floors in the establishment had not been cleaned as me and my children’s footwear was sticky. The ladies bathroom needed a good clean. The service all round could improve with some more attention to detail and care.

I find it stressful going out but I love coming here. The service is always great, the carvery has been delicious both times I’ve been in the last month and the sticky toffee pudding is to die for. If you like good customer service with a nice family atmosphere then this place is for you. Especially with the added bonus of a kids play area out back. That was an unexpected surprise when we went. Will definitely be coming again

Very pleasant staff, clean well maintained, warm and welcoming. The food was hot, some of the vegetable's were dried out in the carvery. Its not uncommon to see this in carvery's, but these were really too dried out. However the meal was nice and there is a good selection of drinks available. We noticed how the staff were quick to clean an area after guests had left.

Lovely pub, friendly staff, and comfortable and relaxing to sit down and enjoy a meal. I had a Sunday carvery and it was delicious. The beef was the best meat I had from a carvery, it was so tender and tasted perfect. The bar staff was also friendly, and quick service. 10/10 for food and service. Definitely recommended

We stay here regularly when visiting family in Derby. The rooms are bright, clean & comfortable. The staff are friendly & professional. Sadly this weekend the food has been a disappointment & the app for ordering food didn’t appear to be working. We had an evening meal on 10/11 & my sweet came out 20 minutes after ordering on the app & minus the ice cream. I asked where the ice cream was & it was brought to me as I finished eating my dessert. One of the staff was good enough to refund the cost of the two desserts I ordered. Tonight my husband had the carvery & the beef was inedible being mostly grissle. Staff didn’t ask if we’d enjoyed our meal this evening as they usually do & avoided collecting our plates. So I’m reluctant to call anyone over to complain.

Always have a lovely meal,both the roast and off the menu. Staff are very pleasant always very helpful and accommodating. Not sure what they have done to the Zinfandel, always used to be lovely but now it's quite unpleasant.Would recommend this pub to anyone wanting a door meal with lovely atmosphere

Unexpected visit, cold and hungry so pooped in. I had a Coke and carvery coke sadly was flat but food was lovely. Husband had a lime & lemonade, cowboy Burger he was very happy. Nice staff friendly place.

The food was basic the the carvery looked like it has seen better days and the Meat preparation looked awful. The vegetables looked overcooked the whole place needs to lick paint, dirty, dusty and something from the dark ages. Also when you try to order for the menu you told this is not available that’s not available when you order the desert menu we got no chocolate cakes it’s meant to be a restaurant I would never eat there again as long as I live and to be quite honest with you. The food was absolutely tasteless. I spent £80 for six people on a meal that I rather not have eaten , totally bland, disgusting food

Booked a table early lunch on Sunday and I'm glad to see that this place was really popular, a good sign. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Carvery choice was great, and well-stocked. will definitely return.
