Fore Street Swimming Pool

A nice pool if you can make the more limited public opening hours. There are changing cubicles directly next to the pool so it is convenient and quick to use the facility and easy to keep an eye out on your possessions. The pool is is not full length but long enough and deep enough to use it for length swimming. It's a victorian facility but was renovated in 2011.

I have recently started swimming regularly and have invested in an I card (season ticket). Fore St Pool is walking distance from home and I feel so lucky to have such a beautiful little pool nearby. It is simple, straightforward and clean and the staff and the other swimmers are really friendly, it seems like a family! A great enjoyable way to get fit, often there is excellent music to motivate you, ..and I love the evening sessions, it's a good night out!

The pool is a good size, very close to my university and the staff are lovely. However I will not be going again. There are no private showers whatsoever! The showers are directly in front of the pool with no doors for privacy! There are 2 very small showers and one of them with 2 shower heads right next to each other, so for me I couldn't have a proper shower, not ideal. There are no hair dryers, no mirrors, no lockers. Literally just a pool. If all you are after is a pool and then a shower at home, this is the place. As I student I have to run off to work or uni after, and so going smelling of chlorine is not ideal for me.

Fantastic, it has been a few years since I have used this pool. However staff still the same and they recognised me, asking after my welfare. Friendly and most helpful staff, I have a health problem but they could not be more accommodating.Pool side has had some alterations which now makes it easier to sanitizer. Facility very covid aware.Other members of the public were friendly and courteous making me feel welcome and part of a community. I will definitely return.

Really nice pool and friendly staff. Simple rectangle design pool.They often do swimming lessons for schools and 1hr swim session for the elderly.We also got special permission to the pool for 1hr just me and 2 friends for underwater photography most pools never allow this or they charge serious money.Very light as well.

Lovely little swimming pool. I changed my children's lessons from Crown Pools where they seemed to just be a number. The lessons at Fore Street are smaller and the teaching seems much better. The staff are always helpful and friendly which is also very different from Crown Pools.

Children's swimming lessons and club swims mean that this pool is rarelyonly open to the public and at unsociable hours. If you are able to get in for a swim (best chance is a week day lunchtime), you will not be disappointed. The skylights let in a lot of natural light, so you almost feel like you are swimming in an outdoor lido. There are ko lockers (I think) and people leave their items in the pool side lockers. The pool is only 4 lanes wide, usually roped with a fast, medium and double wide slow lane for public swims. It is never busy and the staff are always friendly. No shows pool-side, so wear plastic covers to get to the changing cubical, or leave shoes in the reception area where there is a coffee machine and snack dispenser.

Small swimming pool on Fore street, which makes it very accessible. Run by the Council and colleagues were very helpful. The pool itself is quite small and shallow, 1.2m deep on one side, and less on the other side. I got the impression that the water circulation and/or chlorine wasn’t enough, as the water looked dirty, and I could see small particles floating. Besides the lane dividers could be a bit more obvious, thicker maybe. Yet trade off all those for a good location, accessible and reasonably priced swimming pool.

The Fore Street Baths are one of Ipswich's hidden architectural gems, tucked away on one of the town's many confusing corner junctions. The small building is Art Deco style, (built & opened; 1894), & the stonework has aged well, appearing quite quaint. Surprisingly still in use, considering it's located only half a mile from the much bigger, Crown Pools...

This Victorian swimming pool although small is a real gem. It's 25 yards long with changing l cubicles around the sides. The staff are really friendly but check opening times as for general swimming it doesn't open until mid day at 12pm.
