Lumley Castle Hotel

We had the pleasure of staying in a castle state room, which exuded charm and elegance. The WC and washroom cleverly tucked behind the wardrobe door added a unique touch. I experienced one of the most restful sleeps, so much so that I momentarily forgot where I was upon waking. A set of steps leading to the bath was an endearing feature, and the cosy window seat boasted a breathtaking view. Our dining experience at the Knights restaurant was exceptional, with scrumptious dishes to delight the palate. We capped off our evening in the library bar, relaxing by an open fire. Without a doubt, we'll be returning for another romantic escape.

Love it here. Such a grand place but so homely and welcoming. The rooms are very comfortable. The ones on the castle itself have great views but be aware of the narrow medieval stairways up to them (as might be expected). The staff are all delightful. The breakfast rooms are lovely and the service there extraordinarily efficient. You can explore all the grounds and public areas. They even gave their own friendly cat.

Only one slightly adverse comment is that perhaps a little more attention could be paid re dusting the rooms.However, the amazing location made up for that, and the staff were incredibly pleasant.Could I make a special mention of Sandra, who looked after us at dinner. She was lovely.

Fab evening at the murder mystery and the escape room. Beautiful location. Room was very well equipped with little bits of extra to make our stay more comfortable.Staff wise were very limited with help to finding different locations we needed. Some were a tad bit rude in the evening and our breakfast was very limited to what food was available, especially when asked for another large pot of tea and was given a very small pot baring in mind 3 out of the 6 of us were drinking tea.We were also given dirty looks when asked for some toast to go with our breakfast,. But overall we made the most of our stay and enjoyed it.Customer service goes a long way.

We stayed overnight on 30th September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.We had to request a change of room for my sister (not the hotels fault) and Andrew on Reception was amazing. He went over and above his role - Thank you.All the staff were amazing and it was my sister`s 70th birthday and she loved the experience, all aspects of the dinner and breakfast were lovely.Thank you.

The castle itself is magnificent and interesting, and it's obvious that a lot of effort has been put into the upkeep and maintenance. But the kitchen's food was terrible both dinner and breakfast and the restaurant staff service was unprofessional in contrast to the setting.Hotel staff and rooms were great but I highly recommend eating elsewhere.

Fourth time visiting here and it was a pleasure as always. Such a beautiful, cosy medieval castle. We were supposed to get an upgrade on our room but this got messed up unfortunately. Nonetheless we love the courtyard rooms. Other than that I can't complain, I always love coming here. All of the staff we spoke with were delightful. Jackie who served us breakfast was such a lovely lady. If I'm being picky I'd say that it would be nice to have more pastries and cured meats available on the breakfast buffet as there wasn't much there on our most recent visit.

We spent three wonderful nights at Lumley Castle. Their whole staff was fabulous with their kindness and service. The receptionist, Andrew went beyond my expectations with his helpfulness! It was definitely one of the highlights of my 3 week tour in the UK.
