They tried to book me a hire car on the wrong day then told me I couldn't book it in until 7 days prior, like it was my fault they'd got the wrong day. Lack of info on code checker so had to call them back. Obvious they didn't know what they were doing and I've lost confidence I'll get a car delivered in time for work. Wasted two hours of my time when it wasn't necessary

I got an email to say the booking was confirmed for an automatic suv. When I turned up to the office the next day I was told that the only car available was premium and that I'd have to pay more than double to get it. The alternative was waiting until lunchtime the next day, which wasn't an option as I had nowhere to stay overnight.After 4 hours they did find a manual fiat 500. They didn't offer me any discount for the change of category or the time wasted or the stressed caused. All the time there was that premium car on the lot that they would not let me use.Would not recommend renting from Ipswich. They may not have a car for you.

Absolutely dreadful service.Avoid at all costs.We booked and paid for van hire, AND received a booking confirmation, then when we got there, they told us we had failed the background check. Yet we had hired the same van for the same time the week before no problem.We were moving house that week and they completely shafted us.Although we got our money back, there was no proper explanation or apology at all. The blank look from the member of staff serving us only added to the frustrationDREADFUL!!!

Booked a van delivery, paid in full and then got a call 1hr30mins before saying they don't have one available, would I like to wait for one week when they will have one. I asked for a refund and the amount they refunded is less than the amount they took. Trying to call them and it just cuts off after a few minutes, noone answers. Never had such a bad experience as this from any company.

Ruined my holiday plans. Avoid if you can.There was nobody there at the Woodbridge Road depot! I couldn't collect the car that had been pre booked and confirmed.I called the phone number, which connects to a call centre. They tried to contact someone in Ipswich via a mobile number but they couldn't reach anyone and then said there's nothing else they can do. I waited a long time at the depot, calling the number several times, before giving up and making alternative arrangements by having to borrow a car from a family member. I only had limited time in England and this made me waste a lot of my holiday stressing about this and finding an alternative car.When I rang the next day to make sure I would get a refund they said please hold while I check further and then came back and said no, the car is available today so you can't have your money back. Ridiculous!Eventually got a refund after complaining on the public Facebook page.Does anyone care about the customer at Europcar Ipswich?

In the end the car was pretty decent and the hire (even for the original car I booked) was a reasonable price (hence the very generous 3 stars) but beware of the lack of organisation.I prebooked a car a few weeks ahead, when I went to the branch at the allocated time they had *lost* the vehicle allocated to me (turned out after a lot of phoning around, it had mistakenly been taken to another customer)FIrst they tried to downgrade me to a smaller vehicle (the reason I was hiring a car was that 5 of us were going on a 300 mile round trip and my car only has 4 seats)...I rejected this and after some more discussion they found a larger vehicle...actually a slight upgrade to what I ordered. But then I had to wait another 15 minutes for someone to check and prepare it.Overall it took an hour for me to collect the car and made the start of our road trip run late.The whole site is chaos, they were searching for cars, searching for keys....One staff member was trying to deal with multiple customers and phone calls, attending what seemed to be a virtual team meeting, and finding lost cars etc..Whilst another just sat in the back office doing very little and another 2 at least were just wandering around the site. Looks like the whole site operates on one very hard working individual (who to be fair was apologetic about the situation)So in summary, good prices and halfway decent cars, but beware of organisational issues if your collection is time sensitive.

Wouldn't even give this place one star.Car booked to be delivered, didn't turn up. When we asked for a refund we were told there would be a cancellation fee.We argued this as they didn't provide the car. We now have to wait for an investigation to be completed to get our full refund.Absolutely disgraceful service.Edit to add we have now been told to wait 28 days for a refund. For a service they didn't deliver!

Very poor customer service, staff were not at all helpful or friendly. Vehicle was damaged and not recorded on collection form which delayed me. The vehicle was not fully cleaned. The wipers did not work correctly and should have been checked before hiring which was dangerous. Staff were uninterested. I filled the vehicle with fuel before returning and unhelpful staff said it was not full I had to return to fuel station and try and get more fuel in which was not possible apart from 1.5 litres went back and staff said it was still not full. When I worked out the mileage I had done against the fuel used the van only done 24.17 miles to the gallon, this seems somewhat dubious. I would recommend using another hire company that value their customer and not try to make an extra few quid on the hire charge. AVOID
