Rowlands Marine Electronics

Rowlands have repaired equipment on our old boat and fitted out a new boat for us with Navigation, VHF and other equipment. We have always been very pleased with the result. Ian has always been very helpful and met all the deadlines we have given him. For first class service I would strongly recommend them.

When our sailing cruiser was struck by lightning whilst moored in our marina we had no idea of the extent of the repairs that would be necessary. We struggled to find someone competent and willing to help until we met Ian Loffhagen, MD of Rowlands Marine. From the outset, Ian offered sensible advice on the new products available and how to proceed, and prepared detailed quotations for our insurers. He then embarked upon installing the completely new electronics including radios, 12V panel, alternator and engine electrics, heating and lighting. Although based in North Wales, Ian and his technician undertook the work on our boat at Portishead marina in a most professional manner, effectively dealing with the numerous emergent problems in a most efficient manner. Ian provided helpful guidance during the commissioning and trials of the new equipment, and Liz in the office speedily resolved some warranty issues with the new equipment.We cannot recommend Rowlands Marine highly enough for the efficient and friendly way in which they undertook this major project on our boat.

Rowlands have completed all the Instrumentation and Electrical work on our Dehler 35, since new three years ago. We've had some significant out of the box issues with B&G. The autopilot computer was faulty, AIS System wouldn't talk to the B&G Radio and others. During this time Rowland's work has been faultless and without their involvement we'd struggle to resolve these faulty products directly with B&G. Within days they were replaced. The Windex failed, B&G queried the Warrantee period with us but Rowlands argued the case on our behalf and saved us £500.

After losing the marine electrician who took care of my beloved yacht I struggled to find the right people to bring her up to date with a new MFD, AIS & other gadgets then came across Rowlands Marine which I'm very glad about. After the initial meeting and planning at the boat I was unable to be present during work progress which concerned me, that concern was needless because all the work had been carried out to a high standard, well in time for the new season and the boat left tidy. So a big thank you to Ian and his team.I will have no hesitation in going back for more upgrades

Rowlands performed a significant schedule of installation work for us in 2015, to ready us for long distance cruising. All the work (Raymarine cockpit radio handset, isolation transformer, Eberspacher heating, MPPT controller and cabling for solar panels, Paguro generator and Freedom watermaker) was completed on time and on budget (despite the complexity), and to an excellent standard of workmanship. Ian has also been a great help with resolving a couple of Raymarine warranty issues, and his skills & experience make him a useful sounding board. I recommend them highly.

Finding reliable electronics engineers is extremely difficult but Rowlands were great to deal with. They arrived on time and carried out the full B&G H5000 install in an extremely neat and tidy manner. I couldn't recommend them highly enough and will certainly be using them on our next project.

Phoned up for advice on a Chartplotter told the lady on the phone what we needed it for we have been boating for years but never got into Chartplotter so was asking some stupid questions she was very understanding and gave advice and answered all my questions she sent me a email with a link to the product she recommended which was within budget unlike other shops trying to get you to buy more expensive out of budget items and I brought it very good service at a very good price will definitely use again

I've used Rowlands Marine Electronics since they were recommended to me when I moved my previous boat to north wales in 2010, and have been a consistent source of assistance during the re-fitting and refubishment of my current boat.In my view the difference with Rowlands is that not only they have real practical experience at implenting marine electronics / electrics but are also experienced sailors - so they know both what is required and what the value is .They have been unstinting in their advice even when I was carryng out the implementation myself and I have not yet found an electical or electronic problem on the boat which they couldn't diagnose and solve.I would have no hesitation in recommending them to friends and ship mates.
