Quaint relaxing pub next to a Premier Inn located in outer Reading. The service was quicker than an F1 pit crew stop and food so tasty I was looking for Mr Ramsay himself.Free parking, lots of seating and a fantastic selection of drinks.Looking forward to returning again !

We were staying nearby in a hotel and decided based on reviews to check this place out. Pre-booked 6pm Sunday with 2 adults and 2 kids (5&6). I'm quite picky over roast dinners and get frustrated when you go out and it tastes nowhere near as nice as what you cook yourself. Not at this pub. WOW the Yorkshire Puddings were huge and cooked to perfection. The meat was all very nice quality, juicy and not tough or dry. The staff were friendly and helpful and service was very prompt. Price was I was very impressed too. It's going to sound like we just give everywhere 5 stars which we don't but couldn't fault The Old Bell and would happily go there again.

We always chose The Old Bell when visiting the area, so today was no exception. The young man who greeted us was not very enthusiastic and needed to improve on his engagement with customers. He made us feel like we were an inconvenience. A lady who we assume was a manager or supervisor showed us to a table and looked after us. She was must more engaging. I ordered the no leaf salad, and my partner ordered the smothered chicken. When they arrived, I was confused as to whether the salad was meant to be warm or cold as the plate was piping hot, but the food was lukewarm. Nonetheless, it was tasty.

I regularly meet a friend for lunch here. It’s a great place to go. It has a good menu reasonably priced but more importantly it’s always cooked beautifully. I’ve been to a few Chef & Brewers but this is undoubtedly the best one I’ve been to. Also the Ladies loo is beautifully decorated and always spotless when I’ve visited.

We booked a table for 14.00pm and did not receive our meal until 15.15pm. A member of staff did not even come and ask if our meals were satisfactory. We also ordered some side orders but these did not arrive but they still tried to charge us for them. When we went to pay our bill a male member of staff was abrupt and rude he just said do you want to pay did not even say thank you or good bye turned back and carried on serving customers. I have been here on numerous occasions but after todays experience will not be coming back.

The roast was quite average, and served lukewarm. There was no tenderstem broccoli, it was normal broccoli, and there was the tiniest piece of carrot and parsnip on each plate.I had the banana caramel waffle for dessert and unfortunately everything tasted like it had been in the freezer for too long. Finally, I felt like the service could have been better, the waiting staff came over too soon after leaving the menus each time, when we hadn't even had time to read them. Overall it wasn't terrible but there was quite a bit that could improve.

Stayed for a few days at the Premier Inn next door, so the Old Bell became our local, breakfast seeved till 8.30 so if you like a lie in go about 8 ish so as not to rush the staff. Full english a chioce of eggs, fried, scrambled or poached. Bacon, Sausages, Black Pudding, Hash Browns, Baked Beans. Also choose from cerels, breads, jam, fruit and yoghurts.Plenty of hot food to choose from for evening meals and lunch time. I had the mixed grill and was delicious. Theres also seasonal specials on the board. With friendly staff and great food you will have a lovely time here.

We were staying at the premier inn, the pub looked lovely from the outside so we decided to give it a go and went for the continental breakfast. What we got was no butter or any other sort of spread, stale croissants and the cheapest, nastiest yoghurt known to man. The coffee was nice but that's where the positives end. When I spoke to somebody to suggest butter may be a good idea if you are serving toast I was told to just leave. Not good when you are diabetic and you have to eat. Seriously, just go elsewhere.

We have been going to this pub for a few years, we have always enjoyed the food, the service and the environment here. The staff are welcoming and friendly we have always had good food served and left with the feeling that we want to come back. So we chose it as our wedding breakfast venue and everyone was so helpful and made our day go as planned.Thank you to all who made it a success at the Old Bell.
