Brilliant guide explained the history of this very old series of structures. If you want you can dress up in costumes. There was a lute player there when we went. Hidden gem.

Really interesting place. There are lots of volunteers dressed in medieval dress and acting out roles. We were particularly taken with the Archer's talk and a conversation with the surgeon and surgeons! It is fabulous place to take children who can dress up and play games.

St Nicholas Priory is a fairly small but fascinating place, oozing with history. The highly decorated parlour (after the priory became a Tudor town house) is a particularly spectacular highlight (see photo), along with the impressively carved wooden four-poster bed upstairs, and the spacious, high-ceilinged kitchen with the exposed ancient walls and an enormous old wooden beam suspended above it. Well worth a half-hour or more looking around the building... once you find it!

Had a wonderful visit with entertainment, excellent information and a wonderfully preserved Exeter building. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable, costumes fantastic and you really felt you could go back in time. Great experience but sadly due to the age of the house, not wheelchair accessible for the upstairs. Original stairs very steep and a more modern staircase has been provided. However, there is still quite a lot downstairs to see and experience. Very beautiful house with plenty to see and learn.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting St. Nicholas Priory, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. This historical site was built during the reign of King Henry VIII, and I could feel the weight of history all around me as I explored the building. As someone who has traveled around the world on a pilgrimage, I was especially excited to visit St. Nicholas Priory, and I was not disappointed. The building is stunning, with intricate architectural details that speak to the craftsmanship of the time. What struck me the most about this site, however, was the feeling of peace and tranquility that permeated the space. It was as if I could feel the presence of God all around me, and I left feeling renewed and inspired. The staff at St. Nicholas Priory were friendly and knowledgeable, and they were able to provide me with a wealth of information about the history of the site. I was particularly impressed by their commitment to preserving this important historical landmark for future generations to enjoy.Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to St. Nicholas Priory to anyone interested in history, architecture, or spirituality. It truly is a remarkable site, and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience it for myself.

Extensive remains of the building bought to life by information boards, dressing up clothes and contemporary furniture. The people on the front desk were really enthusiastic and answered questions about the building. Can't believe this little gem in Exeter is free. They could easily charge a few quid to look around but happily put a donation in the box.
