Tom and his team were amazing. I cannot fault them on anything. Very professional, talked through what I wanted with me, gave me ideas, kept me informed every step of the way and then worked really hard, transforming my garden in 3 days. Great aftercare too, helping me with what to plant in my new planters etc. 10/10!

Tom and the team did a fantastic job transforming our garden and nothing was too much trouble for them. They replaced the fencing, dug out and relaid the whole lawn, hardscaped the rear space, built a shed and laid out new composite decking. You will struggle to find a harder working team who worked diligently and quickly throughout and I would highly recommend them for anyone looking to renovate their gardens.Thanks again Tom

⚠️ Untrustworthy and incompetent ⚠️ Total Garden Designs - Tom Collins and his dad - have caused us thousands of pounds worth of damage, did not finish the job we paid for and have blocked our phone calls.Tom and his dad did landscaping work on our garden, creating a patio and laying new turf. They did not complete the turf as promised and the patio was poorly installed, causing rainwater ingress and damaging our carpet and furniture.While they worked they were friendly, chatty and knew we were hoping our garden would be perfect for our baby daughter.This was a huge spend for us and we spent a long time choosing who to work with.They did not finish installing the turf, and delayed returning again and again.When problems began with a huge leak, they started to block our calls.I cannot put into words how deeply disappointed I am to have put our trust and savings with this company. We are now left with work to correct and an entire room’s carpet damaged beyond repair. We are pursuing legal action.Tom - you have our email and phone number.

Tom just did my ugly weed infested lawn. He leveled the garden and installed membrane and stones. Great service, very fast and clean. Happy with the job.

I can’t in all honesty recommend this firm to others as the after sales was very poor. They left the work they’d undertaken incomplete and failed to finish it despite having taken full payment

Sean and his team did a great job sorting out my garden. Removed all the rubbish, dug everything out and laid new stone and turf. Laid the bases for the shed and summerhouse.They arrived when they said they would on the 3 day job. Tidied up and left everything in good order when they left. Even gave me lawn care advice!

Please avoid this landscaping company ( total garden design) run by owner John ( no last name as has no confidence on what he is doing ),Many points to highlight:1. Gave me a very good quotation price, with many promises, nice pictures for artificial grass and Indian stone. He did the measurements twice ( came twice to my house to do that). He gave me lower price than the other quotations I had, I presumed trying to convince me to take his quotation. Then 3 days later after commencing the job, he asked for extra money stating that he miscalculated the measurement and to cover his loss. Hence, I paid him the extra money. The day before he completed his job he asked me again for extra money to cover losses which I paid also. What I understood he has no much experience on this job.2.He suggested to bring a bamboo to cover the side walls of my garden and he promised to bring a good quality that will not fall off by wind. But actually he brought a very low quality bamboo looks like straws which was broken very easily and fall off the walls following day they finished.3. Also he brought fence panels and fixed to one of the walls. He mentioned that it is 2 metres dimensions however they are less than that. He fixed them in a random way without any measurement, following day one of the panels came off the wall and was about to fall on my child.4.John promised to jet wash and paint the garden stairs. Stairs were not cleaned and they painted with sand and dust on them. Aslo noted foot prints on the paint ( very poor unprofessional work).5. In the Following day after they finished, there was lots of gaps between Indian stones came off . Also, a part of artificial grass became loose and came off.Main issue, I contacted john to come and fix what I mentioned above, he stated that he will come on Monday. However he didn't show up Monday to Sunday for the following reasons:- Monday ( he brought his parents from airport)- Tuesday and Wednesday (John's daughter was sick).- Thursday and Friday (John was sick himself and feeling unwell )- Saturday ( had stuffs to do at his home ) but he promised no more excuses, and will be with me next day Sunday 12 pm- Sunday ( he said I missed his call and asked me what time I am available, I told him to come now,he said he is not available until 8:30 pm). Said come at 8:30pm unfortunately as usual didn't show up ( Total of 7 promises ).please refer to all bad reviews and you will find many failed promises.

Not even worth 1 star Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! They are not Who you think they are Say all the right things to you but at the end ridiculously shocking work, if you are told to go out for day DONT if something goes off course and isn’t what was agreed stick with it. The ‘Boss’ John uses his kids wife parents and grandparents as excuses why he can’t come back out to repair the problems he causes. I mean what father lies about their own kids being Ill as an excuse to not come out. Oh and they think they clever when you ring they say they are not total garden designs they are they total garden cares, laughable

AVOID.I can’t in good conscience recommend Total Garden Designs to anyone.These guys will say all the right things, but as soon as the work is booked things will take a turn for the worse.No one was available to supervise the work so we left very clear instructions along with a detailed sketch of what was intended, only for Total Garden Designs to keep changing what was agreed. Most things were caught on time to rectify but some were not and we ended up having to settle for something we didn’t want - including a raised patio area which Total Garden Designs informed us mid-build was not possible to build but had always been part of the plan. The initial quote with the raised area included didn’t change though, funnily enough.When the work was “finished” to their standards they asked for the final payment even though said last payment was only supposed to be made once the “customer is happy” like it was promised and written.Worst of all is the work ethic and workmanship. After the work was “done” I was left with uneven, wobbly flags, artificial turf that looks like it was laid on the dunes of the Sahara desert and shoddy rendering on brick planters.After A LOT of messages and 3 appointments where no one showed up, they finally came back to “fix” the flags but left in a hurry and not only have they left uneven, wobbly flags behind, now a lot of them are also chipped.It’s now been 3 weeks and I’m still waiting for this to finally be fixed and Total Garden Designs to do the right thing before starting legal proceedings.So Tom and John, since you’re not replying to messages anymore, hopefully you will see this review which I am more than happy to edit once you rectify what needs to be rectified.NOTE: Please be aware, a lot of these reviews are fake, made by fake users with no other activity, keep an eye out for generic and seemingly incoherent reviews such as “people love to spend here and relax time . I am writing this review to remind people to AVOID this company.In early April, John came to us to discuss our gardening project and estimated the works would be finished in four days. He showed us some pictures and explained how the works would be done. We agreed on the price and the works to be done.On the day John started working, he suddenly said he will finish the project in three days and urged us to pay the second instalment. Before he left on the first day, he offered us to paint our new fences with an extra cost. We refused at first but he persistently persuaded us so we finally agreed to pay an extra for painting fences and planting some laurel hedges.On the second day, John came and rushed the works. He started painting the fences with a different colour cider red from the original fence colour light oak without consulting us beforehand. We stopped them immediately but John convinced us that the colour would fade out. In the afternoon, John said their works were nearly completed but because of the rain, they would need to come in the following week to finish the work . He urged us to settle the balance first and pay the last instalment. We were hesitant to pay the final instalment because the fences were in different colours as shown in photos with some of the fences not painted because they ran out of paint. The flower beds were very different from the picture John had shown to us, he showed us a picture of raised flower bed whereas he just put in a few planks. The new sandstone pavement is untidy and doesn’t align with the existing pavement. The lawn was not mowed which was agreed for the price. John promised us that all our concerns would be solved, and we were so naïve to believe his promises.We chased and waited for two months and more than a dozen broken promises for John to come back. He gave reasons including hospitalization, transport issues, family issues, busy schedule, paint out of stock, etc. By the end of May, the grass had already grown so tall that we needed to mow it ourselves. The fences to the left has decoloured so much in the initial TWO days that the colour is completely different to the rest, it become such an eyesore to watch, and coincidentally this is the side of fence where they ran out of paint. After two months of waiting we finally requested John to refund us 500 quid, which is less than 10 percent of the total cost, for the work they did not finish. John agreed and said he would talk to the head office.After waiting 2 days for John’s reply, we decided to emailed directly to Total Garden Designs to request the refund, they refused and said they would rectify the works. Within two days following the reply, John came but he refused to repaint the fences. He said the colour was different because of the sunlight and just left us the tin of Ronseal paint, so we repainted the decoloured fences by ourselves and see whether the paint would decolour with sunlight as John said. But for over ten days, the fence did not decolour like before. In fact, the colour stayed relatively the same to the other sides of fences. As such, we speculate that instead of the sunlight, it is more plausible that poor craftsmanship like painting in the rain or dilluted paint is the main reason for the decolouring.For this reason, we demanded Total Garden Designs to refund us 250 quid for the labour cost of lawn mowing and repainting 1/3 of fences when the total cost of fence painting was 800 quid. Ridiculously, They once again refused our demand and said they would arrange to repaint our ‘repainted fences’.We would like to thank Total Garden Designs who taught us a painful lesson:Never entrust people no matter how nice and sincere they talk, make sure to write everything agreed in contract in black and white, and never pay in full out of good will.
