Lakes Hotel and Spa
We stayed on an October weekend. Most of the staff were very pleasant. Apart from one in the ‘Traditional Pub’. The food was fairly priced considering what sort of place it is. The food was also very nice. We ate in the cocktail bar & terrace. Friendly service in there. We wanted to order some food up to the room but was put off the idea as soon as we read we’d be CHARGED TEN POUNDS [£10] simply for the food to be transported up to our room. Room was very nice. Lovely large TV and the hot tub was very clean, as was the balcony area. Although there was a previous guests pair of rather dirty sliders left under the sofa. Also had to put a carrier bag on the bedside table as it was sticky. We tried to wipe it. The sofa was dirty and looked as if it hadn’t been vacuumed. Overall if you have the money and want a nice weekend I’d recommend it.

Booked a room for my partners birthday, the room was lovely, has a spacious king-size bed which unfortunately had what looked like a paint stain hidden under the throw and a small hole in the quilt cover, apart from that it was lovely.The sofa in the room seemed nice until we saw it had crumbs all over it and sliders left underneath it from the previous occupants.The hot tub was obviously it's selling point and it was marvelous, we loved it. The steps into the hot tub were sharp and I cut my ankle to the point that it was non stop bleeding, went to the reception and there was a lovely woman that gave me plasters, the glass on the balcony really should be frosted because I could definitely be seen getting in and out.The cocktail bar and terrace was beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff were very polite and friendly.Having to go through a pub to access the pool was odd and the man behind the bar practically shouted at us because we didn't know we had to check in.Overall it's very lovely, pricey but certainly worth the price we both loved it plus the birthday card they left was nice.Stayed in room 230 13/10/23 - 15/10/23

The Spa was noisy and a lot of drunk people still being served more drinks…. not relaxing at all. The plunge pool wasn’t very cold, the steam room not steamy and one of the hot tubs was broken. Male changing rooms were really dirty, no one cleaned them throughout the day. I mentioned the problems to a couple of staff members but nothing was resolved. It’s a real shame the spa was so disappointing as the hotel was amazing. For the price I paid to stay here I was very unhappy.

We had an amazing time at the Lakes Hotel and Spa for our 10 year anniversary, they were kind enough to upgrade our room too which was an excellent surprise. Really appreciated all of the staff who were lovely and the view from the room was great. The balcony hot tubs are fantastic and you can use them until 11pm which was perfect for us. The celebration package was well worth the money and they wrote a lovely message on the mirror for us which again was a nice touch. We would love to stay again in future and would recommend it. Thank you!

Lakes Hotel and Spa
Had an amazing stay here. Attention to detail and cleanliness of both the main hotel and room was excellent. Our room had a south facing balcony and hot tub which was a real treat and even the weather cleared to provide a view of the lake. Ate in the cocktail bar and both meals were delicious with friendly service. Spa was clean and relaxing and quite warm so couldn’t stay too long, but access to the pub bar through the hatch helped cool off with a G&T. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and welcoming right from the entrance gate house and throughout.

What can I say. It was an amazing long weekend at this hotel. We treated ourselves for our anniversary, and the hotel didn't disappoint us.We had a beautiful room with a great view. Hot tube on the balcony. Staff was super friendly. They all went out of their way to make us feel special and welcomed us with open arms.I really don't have anything bad to say. What a stunning hotel.The spa was very nice. Swimming pool 2 hot tubes. The town is a 5-6min walk.The restaurant was stunning. The food was great. All I can say is I am very, very impressed. We used the Bentley to take us to town for dinner that was free. Our driver was an amazing woman. Lesley showed us to our room, and she also drives the Bentley. No one member of staff was better than the other, they were all great.Can't wait to go back again. They were all full of information, very nice and chatty.Cleaning staff did an excellent job with our room. It was very clean. Fresh towels every day.The staff even wrote happy 5th anniversary on the mirror for us. They left flower petals on the bed as a welcome.It was just amazing. Would recommend this hotel to everyone. Just once in your life, you need to go.

Wonderful place! Rooms so clean and comfortable. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Was my mums 80th birthday and they celebrated with us. They arranged the Bentley car to take us out to the restaurant one night free of charge. The hotel restaurant was wonderful. Lovely food and lovely staff. The spa was so relaxing. Just one thing my daughter likes to read in a spa but it was too dark. Big shout out to Katalin who was so friendly and looked after us. Also to Stuart from concierge and Ian from the bar. Would definitely visit again! Thanks to everyone x

First of all just want to say that Noel on the front gate was an absolute delight to be greeted with, very polite every time he saw us. The spa is amazing, beautiful cocktails in the bar. Only downfall would be the bed was uncomfortable due to the pillows but otherwise the room was amazing. Had a great stay.

Underwhelming honeymoon. We came here hoping for something special after our wedding. When we arrived, my wife told the receptionist that she was writing her signature with her new surname for the first time - and the reply from the receptionist was that she would be able to practice writing the signature by signing lots of bills throughout our stay at the hotel. That was the level of heart we received throughout the whole stay, there was no effort to make it feel special for our honeymoon.Cleanliness was also an issue. We found a large toenail in our bed on the first night, and when we reported it to reception they tried to blame the supplier of the bedding and said they would have the bedding changed for us. The bedding was changed but the cleaner then left a dirty rag on the dresser in the room. Our bathroom had lots of black mould too, and water leaked across floor whenever we used the shower.There was never an effort made to make us feel better about our stay - or valued as customers paying a lot of money to be there. We were frequently ignored by concierge staff and service from most other staff felt underwhelming and heartless. We won’t be going back.
