Great place for free parking during a sunny Sunday stroll along the river. WARNING - when it's been raining heavily for prolonged periods be sure to check social media channels & river height as the carpark is liable to flood.

A large free carpark in Wetherby but NO toilets and there are NO public toilets in Wetherby, I asked a shop keeper so it was a case of have lunch visit the loo in the cafe and go.

Nice free car park by the river in wetherby. Few walks nearby and close to the centre so can get very busy. The car park can flood as well woth it been so close to the riverbed. It is quite a steep climb to exit the car park as well so not a good idea of icy or snow. (One way system)

The area between Barnard Castle and Penrith is well designated as of exceptional natural beauty. The hills and valleys present wonderful walking opportunities and the wilderness car park provide a good base for some amazing walks.

How can you complain about free parking with beautiful views!? If you are limited on walking or in a wheelchair you may struggle getting up the hill into town but other than that it's great.
