Crowland Abbey
Very kind man/keeper who at closing time, 16.00, still gave me the opportunity to visit the inside of the church. He knows a lot about the history and what happened to this once luxurious Abbey.If you want good photos outside, go early or very late in the day. The sun will be your friend.There are a few, think about 10, parking spots, next to this Abbey.

I arrived late in the afternoon last week and the guide on site was getting ready to close up for the day. She was so gracious to stay around to show me the Abbey/church and provide a lot of great background & history - esp regarding the wood carvings on the rood screen.Thank you Sylvia! Or it might be Sylvie. Apologize for my bad memory but you gave me wonderful memories of visiting Crowland just by being so kind to this American.

I've been visiting this place from childhood due to having family in Crowland but for the first time in my 54 years I had the official guided tour and learned more than in my whole life. It's a beautiful place.

Went to ring the bells at Crowland Abbey, amazing church with extremely long ropes, but lovely to ring at, church is lovely to walk around inside and out.

Impressive Abbey with lots of details of various changes that have happened throughout the years.Various walls and parts of the building were damaged as a cause of 2 separate fires, an earthquake, the Nave roof falling in and being attacked by the Danes are just some of the occurrences of its history.

Worth a visit. Volunteers staff the building and for our visit he was very helpful and knowledgeable. There are a few gift for purchase to help fund maintenance etc. The car park was near the gate.
