Spring Wood

Spring wood is a very lovely small wood. It has plenty of space to walk around. A variety of paths and routes to take. It sadly is close to the A14 so there is road noise. It is next to, attached to Millennium wood which gives another area to walk around.

Spring Wood is a very green & shady area of deciduous trees, adjacent to & accessable from Bobbits Lane Meadow. It's part of the Belstead Brook Valley area of Nature Reserves around the southern perimeter of Ipswich. It's a very paradoxical place because despite the appearance of tranquil woodland, it's in fact impossible to escape the deafening drone of traffic from the A14. The noise from the bypass towards The Orwell Bridge always spoils the sound of songbirds & feeling of escape usually provided by spaces as green & established as Spring Wood. The southern part of Ipswich is known for its boggy ground, a factor preventing the town developing in the direction as was initially intended. It's also the reason why Spring Wood still exists instead of having been built over decades ago, but it also means that it can become unpassably muddy during any prolonged spells of wet weather. Even in Wellington boots, the slippery ooze underfoot makes any progress difficult, if not impossible. (Spring Wood extends into the area marked here, but not on-site, as Parcare).
