We used a restaurant (13th Dec) it was dreadful, the waitress tried hard but the kitchen took ages, there were 5 of us, 2 children who were getting board, the starters were OK but the main course was dreadful, after a long wait the meals were delivered one at a time, the curry didn't look like a curry and my lasagne was burnt black, it was sent back another was served it to was almost black. I asked for a second glass of wine, it never arrived but it was charged forI live on the island and have tried Ryde Castle a few times over the years but never successfully, never again Green King have a dreadful name which for a national company awful. Never againPaul Fareham

We had lunch here and it was lovely. We took our dog in and ordered some sausages as extras for her. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly and brought us a bowl of water for our dog. Beautiful building with great views over the Solent. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was included in our room price. We also ate our evening meals in the ground floor restaurant and found the food excellent - nicely cooked, well presented and sensible portion size however due to a delivery problem, the menu was rather depleted. The bedrooms along the front of the hotel have sea views. There is a lift to all floors but during our stay was not working. Staff went out of their way to make our stay most enjoyable and we would definitely consider a return visit.

Found this place while on an evening walk exploring our first evening in Ryde. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Found us a table despite being busy and quickly took our orders. Food came quickly, well presented and piping hot. Absolutly delicious. Owners came and chatted to us and were interested in where we came from (Wales). Lovely people and very friendly. Will come happily come back again.

Had a meal here last week, the food was really nice and good value for money, the service let's it's down, very slow and we didn't even get our desserts, I had to go back to the bar 30 minutes later and get a refund as we didn't have time to wait any longer. They said the waiter forgot to tell the kitchen, but I thought it was automatic once you ordered at the bar, so not sure what went wrong.

A lack of staff makes this venue quite a poor choice. We checked in at 20:00 with a wedding reception in full swing g a d no front of house staff.Having found a member of staff eventually, we were checked in by the manager who appeared to have better things to do and was very short and argumentative with the very few staff who were on site.Once checked in we were informed that evening meal service would finish at 2100 so another mad rush to find a member of staff to take our order.Rooms are OK but show signs of abuse by previous occupiers (scuff marks, loose and broken fittings)In all, 'ok' is about the best I could offer

Disappointing visit here this week……after ordering a couple of drinks on a relatively quiet afternoon, I then waited 15 minutes only to see the bar staff who said they’d deliver the drinks to our table, leave. Then,, after waiting for the bar staff to finish chatting to people before tearing herself away to serve a customer,, all I got was ‘her shift finished’ when enquiring about my drink and the staff member who was going to deliver them. No word of an apology or recognition that either the outgoing staff member decided to finish her shift rather than deliver the drinks……or the incoming staff member had failed to produce the drinks on hand over……In all……I’ve def had better customer service.

I managed to get a free stay at Ryde Castle when I switched energy companies and my friend and I stayed here for the night. The hotel was beautiful, the staff were kind and helpful and our room was lovely. It’s 5 minutes walk from anywhere you need to go. The breakfast selections are plentiful, we had cooked breakfast which costs £12 but you can have as much as you want. Absolutely delicious too. I doubt I could afford to stay here as it is a really decent hotel so was very happy to get such an amazing freebie.

Don’t be fooled by the title of castle, not that we expecting a suite fit for a king and queen this place is far from grand. Stains on the walls of the rooms, splashes of some liquid on the radiator and an endless flushing toilet made this one of the more grubby rooms I’ve stayed in. The restaurant wasn’t any better as the bar was massively understaffed with youngsters that had absolutely no knowledge of their drinks. Ordered a starter and a main, starter arrived barely warm and tasteless but to be fair I had ordered the vegan dish by accident (I have since purchased a t-shirt stating that I am now vegan). Waited 20 minutes with the half finished starters in front of us, bar had a cue out the door and we just thought if they are this poor out front what’s it like behind the scenes, we had paid for our food so just decided to leave before the arrival of the pie which apparently is award winning so may have been the game changer with this place but I doubt it. There was a wedding on and I sympathise with the staff as they were very friendly, but sorry, extra staff when busy is a good idea, ended up getting fish and chips round the corner and a bottle of wine from the off license for the room. Don’t think I’ll bother returning
